I really need some help with my car ..

ok so car is a 90 BF5 GT

issues : heavy power steering and lights on on dash ( all the red ones )

so far i have done the following

replaced the power steer pump. new fluid.

replaced the alternator.

replaced the battery.

the steering is heavy when car is stationary and all the dash warning lights come on when turning the wheel.

replaced the alternator yesterday and car ran fine for about 1/2 and hour then its like it lost all power and started with the warning lights low power to electrics thing again.

replaced the battery today and the steering is still the same.

this is getting expensive and i really dont know what else to try.

is there a fuse or something? the sporty steering has never worked either ( button on dash )

is there some sort of power steer box that might be playing up?

please help i am losing days off work due to this.

this all started after the last power steer pump failed and started screaming its guts out.

when i turn the wheel the power steer pulley appears to slow down.?? and almost stop

i also thought maybe the belt was too tight so i loosened that off a bit too and it didnt help either.

are you getting any voltage to the battery while the car is running?

it really shouldnt matter should it? its a brand new battery with a 58 minute RC.

even if the alternator was dead its nothing to do with the power steering is it.

i'd be checking fuses, adding extra earthing and doing an ecu reset...

iv checked all the fuses. double checked the battery terminals.

ecu reset? how?

To reset ECU, unhook the positive terminal from the battery, then press down on the brake pedal for 30 seconds

unhooking the battery and stomping on the picks doesnt work with the jecs ecus, and the denso (v7+) need to be pulled with a reader. i'll find the link, hang on

yep tried that just now and still no luck.

ok so i did exactly as that post said.

still the same

all i got from codes was CEL 22 ( knock sensor which i already knew about )

ill try the 24 hour battery disconnect thing.

but surely its something more serious than a ecu reset?

well, if there were any other codes there interfering, they are now gone. hmmm.... maybe the new pump you got (second hand yeah?) is poked?

ok that seemed to of worked. put car in neutral and gave it some revs..

no more lights on dash, although the steering is still slightly heavy at stationary and my radio cuts out if i use the indicators.

went for a 5km drive.. seems to be ok apart from the radio cutting out and antilock braking light is off and on.

i'd be tempted to say you possibly have some earthing issues there....

ok but where? it did this the other day too, was driving, then indicated and it started to die..

could do max 40kph.

( got up to 100kph fine before on 5km drive by the way )

cause you have heavy steering and no charge i would say its the accessory belt tbh. not tight enough or something else wrong

yeah iv checked the belt. too tight and the pulley almost stops. too loose and its no difference.

what reasons would cause the warning lights to come on and to lose the power?

Check for bad earth.Ecu may be going in to limp mode.

ok so where are the earthing points?

i know of the one by the radiator for the battery but thats it.
