Boost spike after MBC install

Its been a while since ive been here :-X

Just recently bought a V5 STI w/ a rebuilt Fully Forged V7 Short block and V4 Heads/VF24 Turb.

Apart from the engine the car has an aftermarket 3 inch exhaust from the mid section but still running the restrictive factory downpipe, HKS Bov and a shitty pod flilter with a decent heat shield beside it.. Apart from that everything else is stock.

Before the installing the mbc, factory was holding boost up till 18psi constantly. This is my 2nd sti and i have fitted a mbc a few times. After the install took it for a spin

1st - 18psi

2nd - 18psi

3rd - 15psi after 4000rpm spikes to 20psi :o

Stopped testing after that lol.

Checked for leaks and loose hoses. Nudda nothing everything was tied up.

MBC is the problem?

They work perfectly fine, i have never seen any defects to them. Had them hooked upto my previous 360hp evo 8 held boost at 24psi all day long. Before that i had one on my version 4 sti that held 18psi.

For some odd reason this one decides to spike on 3rd and after, 1st and 2nd are holding up fine.

so why did u install 1 when its already holding 18psi?

that is a sh!t boost controller

get a decent mbc

i bet u had a better one in the 24psi evo??

i have had a older turbosmart boost tap and it didnt have issues like that

yes there was a slight overboost but maybe like a pound or so

compared to a electronic controller it wasnt too bad and near the same results (boost curve measured on torqu performance dyno)

anyway...get a better controller man

that one is sh!t...

hey man were about is that top hose going to?looks like everything else is right

also sometime the taps are the wrong way round.so mayb do abit of swaping n stuff.

btw internals wastegates are crap for holding boost.

go external or buy a decent ebc

Internal gates are fine, stop trying to cause an argument

control your hi performance engine with a proper computer (link,motec)

These cheap bits designed to increase boost just lead to premature engine failure..

Of course if you have heaps of cash and would rather buy or repair engines than have a proper computer tuned for the best performance.......Fit the cheap bits!!

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
