hahahaha thats not the case at all sometimes its easy to do a google or buy a manual to how do, nothing to do with me supplying info to which if people don't act like retards i will but the old saying picture speak a thousand words is at times easier ;D ;D

if a turbo is prone to early failure several obvious things come to mind.

*) remove the filter in the oil feed line

*) Keep the oil and filter changed at good regular intervals

*) dont wind up the boost from factory

*) give the turbo a good chance to warm up and cool down

basically make sure your normal turbo / motor care principles are strictly adhered too.

FFS, DO ALL BP/BL LEGACIES HAVE THE VF38 TURBO ? ???

/quote]

No idea how accurate it is, but this thread suggests manual bp/bl gts have td04

http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9145

Seems strange they would fit a different turbo to a 5 speed auto and 5 speed manual. As far as I know the 190kw vs 205 kw difference between auto and manual was to do with the higher drivetrain loss associated with the auto. Wouldnt make sense to have bigger \ different turbo for a 15kw difference. Any BL5\BP manual owners here ?

Those kw outputs are factory flywheel..so no drive train loss calculated.

LOL good point :) so the autos are really hobbled in terms of power then...:(...come to think of it I test drove a 2006 GT-B Manual 4 years ago, and that thing was seriously quick compared to my 2004 Auto today.

GC8/GF8, BD/BG, BH/BE have all had smaller turbos in versions with an auto transmission. iirc, this is because the better spool characteristics of the smaller turbos assist in driveability of 4/5eat equipped vehicles.

TD05 + manual Prova ecu transformed my auto GF8, and my manual BD shames the Auto BH.

Basically the gauze netting was clogged, the one closest to the cams especially. So far the cheapest I can find is the $1400 for the VF38 which seems ridiculous.

Apparently the TD04L is a straight bolt up and probably a much more cost effective option.

but not the factory turbo for your car, and down on performance as well.

It's almost as impossible to find a TD04L that's not $1500+ ... will an older TD04L that's not twin scroll need manifold and pipes etc changed??

yep change everything to fit it or find a vf29/28/23/24 and machine your vf38 to take it

jamie who used to be on CS and is here in wellington did it to his legacy., that is from vf38 -> vf36/37 and had to use the matched uppipe as it didnt line up properly on his legacy. come to think of it i think he had to use the full headers and uppipe.

Ask San on here - he did it for him

Apologies for thread revival, but purely out of curiosity, were these mods documented in a thread anywhere? Anyone know of the gains made from it?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
