Engine Detonation :-(

3 kms difference? i dont understand the way u word things lol

if its detting in high revs - it sounds like its leaning out

clean afm - check plugs (heat range) - spark blow out (large gap) wont cause detonation - it will cause a miss fire

leads / coils wont cause detonation - they will cause misfire

detonation can be from lean mixtures - or timing too far advanced - or hot intake charge - theres alot of things

evowrx: Is yours nz new model with the upgrades (no speed limiter, 260k speedo, orange airflow, yellow injectors and 4 pot front calipers).

They run 1 bar factory. A standard JDM v5 non STI runs 11-12 as they don't have the supporting mods.

mines import too. yellow injectors 180kmh speedo with cut, 2 pot brakes. think td04 internal pressure was 12psi. my forester was exactly the same with yellows speed cut 180kmh. both phase 2. the forester was 12psi standard.

think you confuzzled - ver 5-6 run insert maf - no orange maf

are pretty much same

exactly same afm by my research even by genuine part number.

i think he just needs a link/engine management so he can tune it sooner or later you will need to. will get more out of the car and better gas bill too. my set up is far from standard now and seems to run fine no det that i can hear. hell rich though but all about to change.

So what you had was not det.. You had a missfire.

he would know the difference between misfire vs det.... well most decent ppl wud lol

but seriously tho, big difference between the 2 (maintanance issue vs OMG engine will die at any moment of boost)

Aparantly in the thread gary told him he was using headphones.. So i'm assuming he had a knock sendsor on it and heard what he thought was det..

Not sure how he heard that when it was a missfire but hey...

it will only produce black smoke when it miss fires -

a turbo car should black smoke on WOT (IMO) as black smoke will come from the exhaust at around 12.5:1 and under AFR

IMO a turbo car that doesnt black smoke is too lean - but alot of black smoke is too rich (robbing power)

i have heard that cheap wof places do that to scare ppl into getting things replaced at their workshops as a possible wof fail.. similar sorta trend maybe..altho i dont really think it should be the case...

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
