Did you change fuel pump at well??

I'm thinking that at the RPM level, it's detting because the ECU probably can't keep up with the larger amount of air being pushed in from the larger turbo.

right thread bro? didnt see a turbo upgrade anywhere here unless i missed it. might be the td06 thread...

he is right bro it has a td05h which is 550cfm vs the td04l 340cfm ie 2wice the power at the same boost i believe the answer to this could just be the fuel pump.

at 11psi i wud easily expect the v5 pump to keep up with the td05 .. maybe age of the pump and injectors running more DC causing it issues...

u can put on a v7 sti pump (which i have for 40 if u keen hehe)

they hold 18psi on a td06 tested

i remember different thread you were asking about the actuator slipped my mind.

it is quite a differnce in turbo size for no tune but gary will know. i went from td04 to vf23 not as big a size difference but im running 14.5 too. according to subaru nz the fuel pumps between wrx and sti are the exact same pump just different injectors.

afm is the same as sti too...same afm/injectors different turbo and J2 ecu with higher boost level 16psi stock from my research. difference in nz new to jdm ecus also i believe.

numbers off my import non sti v5 wagon A8

get a friendly member closer to you to have a nosy. its on the drivers side by memory under the seat. the fuel pump may be slowly dying if you have jingles just go buy a walbro good for future mods or the v7 one off pappu.

i am going to be buying a v7 fuel pump but can someone provide info how to test old one and i can just see if that is the problem

I brought a V7 STi fuel pump for my V5/6 for $20 there is a few floating around on here. luxin88 got one for sale also, he's keen to move parts asap so hit him up for a deal...?

the early wrxs had td05s with the same fuel pump unsure what injectors.

They had grey injectors. But they were also tuned for that turbo. Quite likely that the later model engine with higher compression and tuned for the wee turbo can't cope with the TD05 just being chucked on it and hoped for the best.

why has no one suggested spark plugs?

what condition are the plugs and what plugs are they exactly?

i would go upto a heat range 7 NGK copper if it hasnt got them allready - as running a hotter plug just causes pre ignition (detonation)

theres a whole lot more to detonation than "BOOST" despite what alot of people think - could simply be the MAF - giving wrong values - i would highly suggest giving it a clean -

any idea what the air fuel ratio is ? did he run it on the dyno to hear the det or did he drive it? i would highly suggest gettting air fuel ratio checked with a wide band

if the detonation is bad enough to hear with human ears - its bad - really bad

to test fuel pump u really need a fuel pressure gauge plumbed in - if pump is bad pressure will drop off on full boost where it should hold 43.5 psi + 11 psi boost so 54.5 psi

the above is hear say i reckon - as to date i have not heard of someone actually running a higher comp non sti motor on a sti ecu ( ver 5-6 ) as i know and my old car is proof that a ver 3-4 wrx motor runs fine on a ver 3-4 sti ecu ( which is the same difference - being the sti lower comp than wrx)

anyway - thats not even a part of this convo is it??

the cars standard ecu isnt it?

was he running a knock block on it ? are u running the car on 98? when was fuel filter changed? easiest way to figure out if its a fuel related issue - get the air fuel ratio checked via wideband

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
