Engine Detonation :-(

Just got my Boost tee installed/dialed in and goes good however the guy said to me that in the higher rpm 5800 to limit that the car is "pre detonating" i need help with this i really dont wanna go through another motor can someone offer some advice:-)

factory ECU?

whats PSI is it boosting standard? i.e. no boost tap?

get the factory boost control working properly first (if it isnt)

sorry forgot to mention that the boost tee has been installed in order that the car can maitain standard boost as i lost the original boost pill.

it is the stock ecu and always run on BP or Mobil 98

Get a new boost restricter pill and remove crappy boost tee...

im running 14.5psi in the same car it cuts at 15psi. i have only ever run ebc or gate spring pressure though.

wouldnt they set it up right for the car? just doesnt make sense they wouldnt give you an unsafe car...

How much boost are you running with the tee?

Don't think its been mentioned?

But I am another believer in lose the tee and find a restrictor pill.

i have firm belief in that too mate but just spent $200 + to install and buy the tee so may as well keep it with the tee it is running stock 11psi.

Recap:

STandard With pill 11psi

No pill Just a tee 11psi

No pill no tee 7psi

do you need to run a pill with the tap? it shouldnt have any problems at all i thrash the f*ck out of mine at 14.5psi no problems ever if i keep it of 15psi

How many kms on the car? Proably something else causing it to detonate. check the voltage at your fuel pump with the car running? Maybe the pump not flowing enough at full boost

unsure of that i just got given the motor as a swap out from Sub-a-Roo cause the previous one went boom. **ITS NOT THE BOOST CAUSING DETONATION*** i will check that out mate how do i go about that :-)

at 11psi should not boost

keep the boost tee mate (especially if u spent a bleeding 200 on it..)

if they say its det - then when is it - at full boost of before or only certain rpm

could be a few other things as pointed above

also, if say u lower boost to say 9psi does it still det

ring that guy ask him what he meant and what was causing it. whats he define as pre det?

was it doing it before? if it wasnt doing it before at the same boost pressure without controller whats different now?

yeah he reckoned it was detonating at 6000 rpm round there.the guy was garry from possum bourne he aint at work today so i cant get hold of him wll have to ask him later

so he just told you not to go over 5500rpm or whatever? if its got problems at 6000 its probably likely not running right down low as well just not noticeable. gary capper im guessing, cant say he did something wrong would pay to get in touch with him when you can and get his advice hes one smart cookie.

Did you change fuel pump at well??

I'm thinking that at the RPM level, it's detting because the ECU probably can't keep up with the larger amount of air being pushed in from the larger turbo.
