Speed lab chip vs proper tune

I want to tune but there is a couple options do I get an expensive tune or get a chip wich may do the same thing?? Let me know if you have either and if there are pros and cons from your experience cheers

Get it done properly, pay the extra for a Tune.

I'm in Nelson I think we have to either go to chch or they come here to do it ! Is there really that much of a difference to warrant the expense?

you'll get a better result that will be a lot safer with proper tuning. depends how much you value your motor. for some people it's cheaper and easier for them to replace a motor if it goes wrong, than it is to spend money on a proper ecu and tune

Depending how you're tuning it, you may be able to come up to Welly and get it done here... you could probably do an epic day mission if you booked it all beforehand.

and a proper tune indicates you have something other than the factory ecu, so the speed lab chip would go on the factory ecu...

So its ECU + tune, or speed lab chip.

Dont make a day mission to wellies and count on returning in one day. Things never go strictly to plan - from someone who gets on the dyno a reasonable amount.

in saying that - organising a few days to come up and be here while its tune is a good idea. Both shred and STM are very reputable tuners.

from what ive heard, speedlab tunes are RUTHLESS and should be stayed clear away from.

$1800+ for a new Link G4 Storm.

Tune is upwards of $800. Budget on a lot more in case it doesn't all go to plan and takes a bit longer.

In hindsight probably none if you have done extensive work in your motor like injectors turbo etc. but I think the likes of gizzmo mines and zerosports should be decent

A VOS chip goes bloody well in a stockish RS, available from RSliberty forum.

Heaps of R & D and would use any day of the week over one of those \'other\'chips.

Subypower, I currently have one in my RA, suits intake and exhaust modifications and a stock Turbo upgrade if you\'ve done one.

I had a speedlabs chip in my RS.

Ran fine. I ran 15lb on greys on the racetrack. Never had an issue.
