Bonnet scoops/Aero discussion

wagon perspective - in putting the wing up the back i find the care more settled in the sweepers like heading up into dunlop, and somewhat under brakes as you would begin to expect.

The rear is just all round a bit more planted. This isnt to say a quick change in suspension set up cant overrule and unsettle the whole car dramatically however.

yes i does really plant the arse of the car, but like i said i cant definitively say whether its better or worse than my old standard wing. would be interesting to take that out for a run to see if i could feel a difference (if i still had it)

Bigger scoop with top mount + Zerosports intercooler spilitter/deflector (on a v1-6 WRX) with stock ECU = Worthy upgrade OR man points? Admittedly I think they look cool, but I\'d rather say I spent the money to squeeze a little more efficiency out of the stock set up.

On a vaguely related note. Getting impatient as I cant find a BP I like, missus is not adverse to WRX wagon apart from the bigger scoop (compared to a leggy)

Front mount with std Imprezza bonnet will work? (has sleeper appeal to)

Measure how hot your intake air gets beyond a top mount when you\'re toodling along in traffic and you will see why FMIC makes sense in a street car - or at least why a top mount doesn\'t.

They make more sense in a rally/race car than they do a street/drag car anyway, I know people talk about it like the plague but I genuinely can\'t notice the difference (when driving) in response of a FMIC vs a TMIC (but that\'s just me)

So for the sake of science, if I bought this: http://dx.com/p/digital-compact-lcd-thermometer-with-outdoors-remote-sensor-15553?item=37 and stuck it in the middle of the intercooler, and go for a normal drive, log temps. Then switch to the bigger scoop and repeat. We would have something to go off?

I\'m most happy to do this experiment, however waiting for results would be a while :P

You probably want to measure the intake temps not the temp of the air coming in the scoop, volume of air not temperature would be affected by having a bigger scoop (though there maybe a little difference in temp due to more/less friction).

More air through the cooler = more heat exchanged, no harm in cooling the incoming air down as well but you wont do that much with a bigger scoop.....hence watersprayers!

Could be achieved by drilled a little hole into the intercooler then bung the sensor in?

I have the watersprayers, but lack anything else :(

An IAT sensor for links tell you exactly what your talking about Timmah - there are lots of graphs around with such info.

PLOX has some really interesting ones showing TMIC vs FMIC once you started raping it consistently. dunno where they are but are in CS somewhere.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
