i\'ve posted a topic a while back about getting my v4 type r tuned. i will be getting a nice 3k cheaq next month. before i get it tuned. i would like to know what other supporting mods would you guys think i would need to get it running over 220kw while using factory vf24 turbo? my goal would be to have my car good enough for occasional track day use while being a good everyday drive about car. my mates reckon theres a few things i should look into doing. fuel pump, injectors, FMIC, air intake kit. just wondering what else would you guys think i should do? atm, only mods are bov, cat back exhaust, and boost controller. car was dynoed a month ago, 182kw atw on 15psi, was running very rich. any comments or suggestions welcome. thanks

I think TD05H is bigger again than VF22?

I would just do a walbro, split the rails if ya feelin frisky and TB exhaust. Also ebc if your ma-ecu3 cant do it? I think you were running mapecu? Turbo will run out before injectors if theyre 440cc. Fmic probably not required for vf24 either but does give headroom for moar power. Dont think you will get above 180-190kw atw on a VF24 theyre pretty much the same as VF28/29.

vf22/30

bigger injectors (at least 550cc)

full 3inch exhaust TBE

front mount

walbro fuel pump 255lph

silocone intake pipe

good EBC (if u have link G4 then dont worry as use its controller)

parallel rail the fuel if u can...

that above should get 220 kw and a very nice car on the street and can take the track day thrown in there

look on TM and many times u can get a good deal on some of the stuff so should come within budget...

so this is what i have so far.. full 3 inch exhaust, walbo fuel pump, boost controller and re installed intercooler splitter plate+ water spray. just wondering, i have a huge custom made intercooler. would it be better to try and mount that on rather then using the standard tmic with water spray? it would require some custom work i was told.

also, a member here -BLKREX- is selling some semi tuned header.? just wondering, at my level of mods atm, would i really benefit much from them? or would my standard ones be fine?

To give you an idea... I got 230wkw out of mine with only a turbo back exhaust, fmic (a trademe special at that), a bov and a tuned g4. Was running stock everything else is a v3 so was running a vf23 but it gives you an idea. Spend the money wisely... A ecu with a good tune will work wonders... I went from 187 to 230 with a g4 upgrade and that was it.

as above.

a link, and a good tune. injectors will see 220wheel so pointless changing. put in a walbro and fmic, will force you to put in a pod and itl run up 220 easily.

the vf24 might not quite make that, as suggested a vf22, 23, 30, 34 and td05 all will.

turbo $400

link $2000

tune $1500

walbro $200

FMIC $ 400

you wont see any gains at all with out the link, \'winding up the boost bro\' is a complete waste of time.

got my car back from spec performance today after getting fuel controller installed and tuned. made 213kw atw. jon said he could hear slight detonation. so lowered the boost a bit. it now makes the 189.7kw on 14.5psi. (before was 182kw) will be looking to get injectors sonic cleaned and re-tuned, then will be able to bump back up to 17psi again and get some good results.

Good stuff, whats the specs on your engine? What type of fuel controller did you use?

What happened to NZEFI?

they too expensive. my flatmate knows Jon from spec quite well so i just went to him instead. the install and tune cost me $478. i also had the exhaust and brackets modified for $140. my engine is just standard ej20k, bottom end rebuild at 59,000ks, now at 87**ks. only got turbo back exhaust, walbo pump and boost controller.

but the problem is if it was too much timing causing your detonation the fuel controllers not gonna help that much, NZEFI\'s reflash can pull timing out. A fuel controller is only "tricking" your AFM and ecu to put extra fuel in

This ^^, also being able to adjust the timing means you can get far smoother timing tables then stock which results in a better driving car.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
