new clutch shudder??

i got a new exedy clutch put in my Subaru (yes buy a good Subaru mechanic) they machined the fly wheel and all the rest. But now when i release the clutch you can fell the clutch shudder through the clutch pedal, any one know why this is ???? and is it a bad thing. He told me it would go away but after i have done nearly 100km on it, it still shudders.

100km is nothing, yes they sometimes shudder a bit from new. do 1000+ km and report back.

They told you how to bed in a clutch right?

Is it only shuddering through the clutch pedal???

I had my clutch replaced recently and BNT F**ked up the skimming of the Fly Wheel....

Had to come back out and be redone!

yeah just through the pedal, makes it a bit hard to change smoothly, how long you wait till you went back and found out they fucked up your fly wheel??

If you are not happy with it, take it back to the mechanics. I personally do not think a brand new clutch should shudder at all.

Same... never heard of a bed in procedure for a clutch aside from refraining from thrashing is for a while.

And in general, if you are paying a mechanic $100/hr to do work, then you should expect perfect results.

Don\'t come onto an internet forum and complain, go complain to the dick that just emptied your pockets.

The only clutches i\'ve felt shudder are the cheap and nasty ones..Are you 100% sure they installed a genuine exedy plate?

Same installed and mrs drove home (tho the had to have the clutch pedal travel adjusted - and only cos I am a pedantic mother f**ker)

Done about 2000Km since install and no worries...

I pretty much got the fly wheel sorted straight away. The shudder could be felt through the whole car though...not something to muck around with as we all know about the Subaru bearing problems....Imagine that vibration going through the crank!

mine was vibrating the car a little when i was trying to take off, but now its back in the shop and found out that i needed a new master clutch cylinder, and they pulling the clutch out to have a look at it and the fly wheel, so im shore if there is something wrong with anything there shore to find it.

Dude that sounds like they fucked something up or didnt machine flywheel/dunno. If its a master cylinder problem why is the gearbox off? Might pay to ask whats going on there.

Gearbox off for a Master cylinder is a bit weird IMHO

after all that they replaced the clutch again with a brand new one ( free of charge) and when the old one was tested it had a fault when it was made, and the master cylinder only cost me a couple hundy extra all up so not to unhappy with the whole thing but will ask when i pick up car tomorrow
