Cheap daily?

Looking at traveling for work whats a cheap on gas daily like corolla etc under $1500. Got to look first world.

We got given a budget old Nissan Avenir diesel wagon for a few days while the work van was getting repaired, did 520km on just over half a tank of diesel, pretty impressive economy !

An old Corolla will still cost you more than $1500, anything worth a shit starts at about $3000, particularly because economical cars are in demand now.

I\'ve got a 1500 corolla - 92 or 93? 4 door auto, cost me $1800 a while back (has prett low k\'s and is dead straight), gets ridiculous mileage and hasn\'t cost me a cent

Corolla - civic/accord - pulsar / primera - trueno/levin - n/a fwd impreza? - mirage 2 door

I\'ve had 3 or 4 primeras and they\'re pretty mint little cars for the $$, get one of the higher spec ones and they\'re actually a fun drive, same goes for the pulsars.

Mirage coupes/hatches tend to go pretty cheap as well (I\'ve had 3?) and you know mitsi\'s already which would help when you eventually 93T it ;D

Pretty much what Im looking at just need something the missus will let me have on the property lol. How do you find auto you just trip round town or country trippin?

Id say get an old early 90s primera. my missus used to have one years ago. run on the fumes off an oily rag, 4 doors, and wasnt that bad to travel in.

a 90 with a 2E engine and 5 speed manual

a 89 with a 4a engine and 3 speed auto

both in reasonable condition both have been in our fleet for a number of years so maintenance has been buy me, which means no expense spared, both have WOFs and newish tires.

my daily is a mighty 93 nissan sentra sg, 1.4 carbi manual, small tank think 25litres, no frills, back seats fold down, done 413ks orignal motor and box, basic as and cheap 2 run and insurance is around 150year

take it anywhere and everywea, taken it to wellington for a raodie with mates for a laugh, wouldnt go auto tho

Around that price bracket you\'ll get a massive variety - some will be absolute POS 80\'s rustbuckets, some will be genuinely tidy later model cars, everyone has different ideas on what value means. Don\'t settle for something rubbish unless you have to. Auto isn\'t bad if it\'s something relatively new (like, post 1990) and not NZ new.

we have a p11 primera 1.8L its a great car an so easy to work on, we need to do the valve seals as it uses a bit of oil.

we\'ve changed the cranks seal an dizzy seal an did the head gasket when i 1st got it.

been told by a mate he can swap the motor no problem but he said there no point until this motor blows up.
