yikes!! that compressor surge and you dont want it. its from the BOV not opening enough to vent enough air for a given turbo size.

its the turbo making the noise BTW, not the BOV. that will FUK a turbo quick smart

Isn\'t that noise caused by turbo flutter? As in no BOV causes the compressed air for be forced back against the turbo\'s turbine when the throttle is shut

Compressor surge = turbo spooling too fast/early, engine can\'t swallow it, you get chuff chuff chuff noise on part/full throttle

The chchchchc / zutututututu whatever noise which sounds like insaneo BOV = running no BOV, doesn\'t really have a name I know of... Seen a lot of folks say it will kill turbos in no time, seen a grillion people also say I\'ve done it for years and never killed anything. It\'s a seperate beast to surge though

If you want a hundred more examples type "Dose Pipe" into youtube and get all VL turboed out cuz bro

I had a turbosmart supersonic first gen on my libero sounded like a normal bov with trumpet and fluttered with no trumpet. Dont think it was surge but long time ago.

lots of drift cars dont run them and rape them for seasons

compressor surge with more than 1 psi across it will wear out a thrust bearing faster . bb turbos tend not to care

heres a pretty good description, mine was doing it mostly off boost, and making my car shudder on partial throttle. I finally got my BOV soft enough for it to go away.

mine makes a similar sound but thats cause i stuck washers coins and what ever i could find that would fit to make the spring stiffer.

As it surged without them as i\'m sure the bov was opening when coming on boost as its just a cheap piece of crap.

If i could afford a gfb one i\'d have one.

in my old skyline, i ran 1.1bar on a ceramic turbo for 3 years with no bov motor went bang after 2 years of drift abuse, stripped the motor down and the turbo was in mint condition.

Pretty much - some will "flutter" which is just having the spring wound a bit hard so it opens and closes rapidly

I\'m currently running drift-spec no BOV at all - couldn\'t recirc the V7 one and haven\'t gotten a bolt on one yet - you don\'t even get the chewchewchew sound on a legacy, it just gives you a very loud & long choofchoofchoof sort of noise. I think the length of intake plays a part in this, dampens most of the noise down.

To that end, there\'s heaps of different noises you can get out of different ones though... hard to describe them through text tho
