HID Bulbs

[B4 I was 250T]

Anyone know is there is a maximum k limit for HID bulbs... found 10000k bulbs that are really, really blue but unsure if legal in little old nz. Any help appreciated

only light colour allowed to the front is WHITE and YELLOW if to blue then WOF fail and also mr plod may have an issue as well

If its a white light. And the intensity is all thats changed to make it blue,you should be fine. Because although it shines blue, it is essentially a white light.

Not sure how accurate that is I havent read it but should give a general overview. Basically in narva halogen bulbs blue power gave optimum either way then as they got bluer your distance decreased. Common misconception is that blue lights ftw - generally not the case.

Try telling that to the boy wearing blue as he slaps a "pinky" on your front window..

Stick to bulbs that emit "white" light dude. Or your just asking to get pulled over.

Have tested 6,8,10k hid on v7 and it seems 8k is the best as it\'s really white and bright but not as blue as 10

Basically 8 sails thru Wof and no cop trouble at all

10 was a bit more blu than 8 and jus Wud attract a bit more cop attention for no more extra light over 8 as far as performance at night is concerned

Yep.

Daylight is 6500K

For car lights you really don\'t want to go above 8000k.

Too far into blue and you actually see less as blue is more prone to scatter and glare.

I had 8000k ones before, the light is almost blueish. The Jaycar 6,500k ones are more whiter. Cheap trademe ones don\'t last, they blow quickly.

Factory HID bulbs in a Subaru are just under 6000k

It might seem that D2R and D2S are the same but there\'s actually a difference between the two (anti glare added to the D2R or something like that, see pics below)

D2R = D2 bulb for Reflectors

D2S = D2 bulb for Projectors

is your car HID from the factory ? is so then all good if not then you will only be able to do it with a full headlight upgrade, the fitting of HID bulbs to non HID headlights are illegal.

If you want a whiter fog light then you can get a LED h1 bulb that will do the the whiter but may not be as bright, anything to blue is also illegal as you are only allowed to display white or amber to the front and red and amber to the rear.

Yeah, she is hid from factory. Thanks for that man, maybe something like narva arctic blues for the fog light then?

you could try them but they will be not white enough compared to your hids

Leds would be the only whiter option
