BG5 Legacy RS Wagon?

I have just bought what I thought was a 97 GTB wagon with an RS badge on it but it does have some odd parts and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it?

Has all the GTB bit\'s dash, shocks, wheels

Twin sunroof model and ugly fabric interior

has clear side indicators (which look factory), 4 pot front brakes and STI rear arms but not sway bars

Is registered as an RS and all the numbers etc match up

My thoughts are it came in from Japan modifed and the car dealer just regsitered it as an RS as thats what the badge on the tailgate says

Any ideas?

dumb answer time. sticking my neck out here but is there such a thing as an RS wagon? Unless its an rs liberty wagon but those were I thought early 90s

Sweet any ideas about the side indicators? never seen them before...

One of mine had them, guessing its just a random option or something aftermarket.

Thorpy had a wagon which was badged RS and was regd as such, but was no different to a gtb, just one of those random registration things I guess, same as how some cars might say "corolla" on the rego tag and the next "corolla 1.6 GLX dual cupholder electric window"

Would look 10x better with the stock gtb rims you\'re selling instead though, probably raise the value a bit too if you\'re looking to onsell it

i also have a gt wagon ... factory manual . zeus your incorrect i believe that theory applies to bc/bf (gen1) series

I thought about that after I wrote it, can\'t even blame drinking for that one haha

This has been asked before not that long ago too, can\'t remember what the short answer was but it\'s not just a suby thing, I\'ve seen heaps of cars badged just a little bit oddball or just with a bit too much info, especially if it meant it seemed higher spec or more desirable - guess its a dealers trick I suppose?

Manual Sedan = RS

all other shapes and gearboxes = GT

this is how it is and always has been

GT-B with \'modding\' / RS badge stuck on it

clear side indicators weren\'t hard to get on TM 5 years ago : I have some on mine : of course they "look" OEM, yours still have the wee black bit your suppose to colour code/paint to match your trim

i have seen quite a few of these with RS badges, dont think they have been simply slapped on

i used to think RS was 5 speed too until i worked at integrity cars in chch in the mid 90\'s and saw that some GTs were also 5 speed

All Gen II Sedans are RS\'s (BD5)

All Gen II Wagons are GT\'s (BG5)

that is the rule

Gen I is a mix up of either depending on Trans and Body Shape
