well my car has had a history with knocking but it never used to show a cel? - when I first bought it it knocked real bad but after doing plugs and AFM it was better and I also did a tank with Octane booster and it seems to have cured the knocking pretty much

hm, i have the same problem and exact same car...

i purchased it couple of months ago and just recently the CEL came on but for me it seems to only be when it rains or after i exit motorway?

It only lasts for like 10-15 secs then goes off, but this repeats often..

any ideas? i have been filling with 98 only and i don\'t think its knocking, plus i havnt really noticed anything different in the way it drives.

I think it might be the electronic sensors, soon going to be faulty. I\'ve had that in my old Legacy. After awhile I went to a genuine Subaru workshop, they scanned the CEL and it came up O2 sensors and Air Flow Sensor, got both replaced on the same day. Runs mint after that, even gain extra power.

Just take it to winger, they hooked up there computer and told me what it was free of charge, turns out it was the o2 sensor on mine, however dont buy it from winger though $670 where as from strong for subaru was $250 for genuine parts.

well going back to this, every time now I start the car up the CEL comes on - but only when its cold and when you switch the car on and off it goes away - and its not coming up with any codes??

So I have booked it in to Nelson Subaru to get them to do a diagnostics check on Monday - will report back if you want me to

Yeah i was thinking something along those lines as well...

do you think it would be okay to just continue driving with a faulty sensor? or is it one of those things you have to fix asap.

appreciate the feedback :)

Don\'t trust the winger boys. What I meant is that, it\'s good to take your car down to Winger Subaru as they supply genuine parts etc but don\'t tend to leave your car at their workshop, their young staff/mechanic tend to take cars down for a boost. Even to get lunch etc. I\'ve always booked in early in the morning for check ups etc.

Thats a pretty big generalisation. Theres no Wingers in Nelson anyway.... Never really been a fan of Nelson Bays Subaru though, never really interested in helping out on small things. Nathan (I think?) is pretty helpful though and is pretty clued up when it comes to Subarus.

Hardly think so.... anyone doing that sort of thing soon gets fired INSTANTY

and whats the difference of them road testing ya car and "boosting it" as you say, and you "boosting it"

Yep Nathan is the best guy there - I do know what you mean all they really care about is getting $$$

Thats the reason why l won\'t go back to dealerships and especially large workshops, from previous experience, my mechanic is a small owner/operated workshop with an appreciation for subarus and you know whos going to be working on your car

Well i got the Legacy back today from Nelson Bays Motor Group and they came up with the following:

Fault: Engine check light on

Carry out Diagnostic checks for fault,

Code P1130 present

Sensor 1 Bank 1 Sensor 1

A/F Ratio Sensor failure - req replacement

Total cost to get this done was $97.70

so I asked them the cost do change this sensor and they said 660 inc GST plus 1 hr labour, I rung up Armstrong Subaru in CHCH and got the sensor for 460 and have decided to replace it myself

what do people make of the code they came up with - no wonder I couldnt diagnose it myself the standard way

also where abouts is the A/F Ratio sensor located? and will I need to get them to reset the ECU properly with their computer after the new sensor is fitted?

Cheers

two more Qs

-will I need Nelson subaru to reset the ECU with their computer after fitting it?

- I already fixed the fuel leak it had (the hoses under the manifold) and since the fuel ratio sensor failed the smell of fuel came back a little bit through the air con - so will the new sensor fix this issue? - (the guys at Subaru thought it would)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
