Wheel getting hot ??

Recommended Posts

Left rear wheel is getting so hot you cant touch it , Other 3 wheels are normal.

I suspect either wheel bearing or seized caliper ?? wheel seems to rotate ok like its not screeching like the brakes are jammed on.

Any ideas ? , oh and its on an 05 BL legacy.

rotated freely could either mean driving and \'freely\' or jacked up and \'spins freely\' by hand.

the OP has not said so but Jason being explicit about this makes total sense.

to close, your thinking differently is significantly different to the \'norm\' around these parts on the whole it would appear to me - how you, and the norm react to that is up to you. Just saying.

Its my mates car , Ill check it next weekend when Im there.

Hes not driving it as only on learners.

When I say it moved freely , I layed down beside it and listened as he slowly drive back and forth , no unusual noise.

yea sticky calliper OR bearing is 1st best guess, jack it up give it a wobble back ant forth (in and out of car top to bottom of wheel)

and darn I missed all the action in here it seems

Sounds like the brakes sticking alright to get that hot.

It could be caliper or the brake hose swollen inside and letting the high pressure through to put the brakes on, but blocking enough to stop the fluid returning completely. Test it when it\'s jammed on by loosening the bleed nipple, if that free\'s it up, then it\'s the the brake hose. Confirm it a couple of times by jacking that wheel up, getting your mate to put the brakes on, then check whether it turns after he\'s let them off, and then whether undoing the nipple frees them up.

The short wheel bearing life is perhaps caused by over-tightening the bottom link bolt which distorts the bearing housing.

There\'s a technical service bulletin about it on end-wrench.

For anyone that was interested , I "think" that is was a seized piston or slides , pulled the calliper off and sprayed lots of brakeclean around , pumped the piston in and out a few times , bled the line and reassembled .

Went on an 80km drive and all good.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
