12 months Wof june/july next year?

I got a warrant yesterday and the mechanic told me that june/july ish next year cars later than 2000 will only need a new wof every 12 months, cars older than 2000 stay at 6 months. Anyone know the facts? I\'m guessing they must be changing s few minor things such as tyre tread minimums etc?

Cheers, most people I know only service their vehicle when something falls off or it wont start. I guess workshops will add wof type checks to regular servicing such as checking tie rod ends, wheel bearings etc? Makes me wonder how much the accident statistics will rise from mechanical faults. Also how many more tickets the police can hand out for \'Vehicle not up to WOF standards? Or am I completely missing the point for the change and dribbling again... ;D

Edit: Insurance company\'s will love the change too, "We\'re not paying out as the vehicle was not up to Wof standards at the time of the accident".

I think half the idea behind it was that it\'s like 0.fckall% of accidents are caused by mechanical faults in that age bracket, or something to that effect - was just a captive market of "mostly" clean sheet WOF\'s for most newish vehicles

Most of the "not WOF\'able" tickets are generally going out to the guys who swap struts etc just for WOF\'s anyway, could have them on a monthly expiry and it\'d still be just as much of a problem

Funnily enough, I have attended a few accidents that the sole cause of the accident ( one was a death) was because of a failure of a wofable item, All were tire related, mismatched or bald or both

So may people come through work with dangerous cars and are totally oblivious to it because for example they have serious camber wear but only look at outside of tyre tread so they don\'t realise there wire is hanging out inside etc.

The whole WoF interval thing is especially dumb when it comes to tyres. Saw a 2011 Merc SUV in town the other day, so obviously still on 1 year WoFs, tyres were completely f*cked, bald as and bits missing from the sidewall from them kerbing it, whole 9 yards...

Should be done on KMs with a date backup... I reckon every 10,000 OR annual, whichever you hit first.

Surely the 12 month wof is only for cars under a certain age?

/quote]

Sure is and I think its rolling so 2000 only works for one year. Open to being wrong on this but from what I understand thats the way it works.

I\'m sure I read it\'s not rolling but fixed at 2000 and for the lifetime of the vehicle, score :D

If it isnt its a tad retarded 30 years time your cars still getting 12 month wof and its 43 years old.

I don\'t believe that. It\'s the most bullshit system ever if true.

edit: but it looks like it is true. But from 2004 for cars not 2000. so unfair.

Your mistaken, That article says 2000 on wof every year it just says 2004 and newer this rule starts in jan but for 2000-2004 cars it doesn\'t start until July then it\'s once a year for the life of the vehicle.

Much better link below.

I agree with this. I think we\'ll see a lot more dangerous cars out there. In my opinion they should tighten up some of the regulations of the WOF standards. Not to mention the number of garages that are more than likely going to go out of business...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
