Where to go for a good wheel alignment?

Flat4

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I\'ve just moved up here and need a wheel alignment before the Alexandra Rd hillclimb.

Can anyone recommend someone who will do a good alignment to custom specs? I don\'t mind paying for it as long as it is done right

Cheers

Sam

Go and see Al at Macbilt in Cashew Street (?) Grenada North.

Cheers Tony will do. Would he be able to help with getting some more camber and toe out of a factory set up (e.g. camber bolts etc)?

Cool sounds like Macbilt is the place to go. I know roughly what I want but it\'s hard to find a cookie cutter tyre shop that will do it properly. Keen to hear what Al at Macbilt has to say too as I\'m always open to new ideas

I might struggle to get the car anywhere during the week though, does anyone know if they are open on Saturday mornings?

Cheers for the replies, been really helpful

Give Al a call, he is often there in the weekend, so if you ask he is more likely to do it. Just remember he will charge more money for an alignment than a standard place, which is only fair given he is quite an expert when it comes to Subarus.

I have found that the Tony\'s branches in town are all quite receptive to be fair. They have setup my beemer and WRX alignments to suit my requests each time.

To be fair, you don\'t want a massively aggressive alignment for Mt Vic, it\'s a bumpy dangerous road, so anything extreme will probably help encourage your car to try flying.

Dave Tunley @ 294 Taranki Street will also do non-standard alignments.

That\'s the place up by BNT in town? I\'ve been there before and they were great. A good alternative option if the location is more convenient and you already know what you want.

Yes that\'s the one. Dave has a motorsport background and will also be able to give advice.

Fair call, although I am driving a BG wagon so I think it needs a more aggressive alignment (bit of toe out in the rear) to encourage it to swing the back around. Even with mild rear wheel toe out and a 22mm whiteline rear bar on the stiffest setting it still didn\'t hang it out around Ruapuna like I wanted it to, so I think I\'ll go a bit more aggressive again if I can

Cheers Loren, Taranaki st is quite handy to me so might go there

For anyone interested, I just got the car back from Dave Tunley. Great guy to deal with and pretty quick to make suggestions.

End result:

-1.28/-1.28 deg front camber (maxed out) and -1.11/1.12 deg rear camber

1.3mm toe out on both front wheels and 1.1mm toe out on the rear wheels

The measurements are spot on left to right, the only difference being .01 deg in rear camber. I\'ve never had an alignment sheet look anything like this

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
