Reliable octane boosters...

Has anyone had a reliable history of regular octane booster addition to their lower octane (95) fuel?

If so, what brand, what mix and what octane/brand of fuel?

Can't remember what show i was watching, but their results showed for i think all the brands they testing, they gave less power.

I did something silly once lol. i put octain booster into 91. I noticed it did work some what but then bloody tought to myself i should had paid for 96 lol would had been cheaper too :-[

I allways use the NULON Pro strength (26@supercheap 36@repco) when i'm intending on giving the car a bit of a thrash.

No idea if it makes anymore power or anything though.

i've found that i get a few more km's off a tank of gas with octane boost in it, even after a thrashing, anyone noticed that?

i've used the wynns stuff... it's usually on clearance at the warehouse... i wonder why? it seems ok

yep use it here to as the staple diet is 95 around here.

it does make running more efficient,as for kwatt increase,i dont know

Occasionally I use Wynns..why would u want to rather than pay the xtra cost per litre?

they dont add any extra kw's to the power and can cause a 5-15hp drop in fact, they have been tested a bit and if you intend to use them, just pay the extra and get some decent fuel

Thats fair enough, but if they loose you power then whats the point?

I can sort of understand with 91, as it may help stop detonation, but you in theory shouldnt get much with 95/96.

IMHO you should NEVER put anything under 95/96 in a Subaru anyways.

I had to put $40 91 in an empty tank (all they had at BP here Tuesday)

1x $16 bottle of OB - recommends on the back of the bottle 1 per 3 tank fills, 'could' work out the same cost?

I always notice with 95 (pre-98 days) I would get a black sooty build up around Exhaust on panels and boot

My Soob has always had a sooty exhaust regardless of 95, 96 or 98.

living in the coromandel you can only get 95,no 98 unless i travel 40 odd kms for 98.

No 98 up here in Northland so its 95 for me.Been using Wynns Race Formula for a while now. Car has been running crap for the last few days, found plugs were REALLY dirty so i'm guessing it's the result of octane boost. Never seen such dirty plugs before. Done approx 10,000kms using Wynns.
