wrx "sti" version 7 info

hi guys, i know someone that recently bought one of these adn i'm convinced it's not a genuine sti for the simple reason i've looked at the brakes and they aren't brembos! from what little i know about wrx's and sti's i thought they all came out with the brembo brakes? i could just look at the rego sticker but they don't live locally and i don't wanna upset the apple cart. any opinions apprecaited.

or RA Spec C as they came as well. Wait for the V7 spec C boys to pop in and say but does it have a 6 speed box? does it have a roof vent? what sti badging? does it have the red manifold, sti intercooler etc etc, i think the dash clusters were different as well

Just check the engine code/ mode code. GDB for STI. GDA for WRX

Most STi v7's had Brembos unless it was a stripper RA or Spec C.

Look for all the usual STi accoutrements like badges, seats, 6-speed box etc..

Rev counter should be in the centre of the instrument cluster, with a higher 8000rpm limit and change-up light.

Under the bonnet the engine should have a big IC, usually with STi on it and red inlet manifold.

the only way to know for sure is to put up the model code or chassis number or the rego number

ver 7 hatches had the subaru 4 pots

all base model sti sedans had the brembos

while the sti RA (MY01) or the RA spec c (my02) were optioned as the 17" version (with brembos) or the 16" version (with subaru 4 pots)

Get the plate. Run it through www.carjam.co.nz. Get the chassis number from there. GDA = WRX, GDB = STi. That's the most surefire way to tell.

And if the plate is FCA216, it's the not-STi from the other thread and your mate has been ripped off.

Spec c don't have a lot of things...

but they make up for it with whole lot of wooo factor with the way they go...
