Brembo conversion - quick question.

Are all four hubs required for bolting on Brembos (considering it is 5x100 now and staying 5x100), or can I get away with just using the rears?

Reason for asking - just spotted an opportunity to grab some, pricy if I go for all four though (grand for a set).

Fronts will bolt straight up to your existing setup, rears will need the hubs.

Bit like when us crazy Jafas go to Tauranga to pick stuff up :P

Just getting the rears is gonna make stuff way easier - still gonna rip the front of the car apart anyway, because there's some alloy arms begging to go in.

Fun part is going to be watching the car get even slower for a while, while the poor little 20E drags around extra lard from the GDB bits. :-[

you, IIRC, need type-R rear hubs? as the GDB ones will be too wide? someone correct me here?

  • 4 weeks later...

Thread bump.

Okay. HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING...

Type R gearbox + Type R rear diff + Brembos (incl hubs) + ______ halfshafts = yes?

Blame Funky.

Ninja edit: Anyone in Auckland able to give me a demo of Type R gear ratios etc? They are closer than my puny failbox, yes?

as i said in my Pm.. and care of Optical.. (so blame him)

You can run the rear brembos on R160 hubs.. the type that take the two pots. you need the special Rotor for the brembo caliper.. (bigger) but takes the smaller R160 handbrake.. DBA do such a thing. then you just bend the stone gaurd a bit.

Rule of thumb -

R160 or R180 required the same in axles/diff/hubs. ie all three bits have to be either R160 or R180 (assuming you dont modify anything)

(info all care of optical.)

Excellent info. Either way it's a conversion for me hence looking at the genuine hubs - I have single pot rears at the moment (version 3 STi).

Sounds like an option though.

same here.. im on single rears.. You do need the R160 hubs that at least take the two pots to do what is mentioned about. so il have to change mine out for the newer R160 hubs

290mm disc with a 170mm handbrake hub. Off an 01' wrx if you go through Ripco. Not cheap though.

Thats if you run an adaptor with the r160 diff.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
