Hey All,

Does anyone know of a good and well priced mechanic to swap out a Head Gasket? (in Welly of course) I just got priced $3500 and if it dont get much cheaper than that, then my poor B4 gonna get traded in.

Any help is welcome :D

Cheers. If I can give some paid work to some folks off here that would be awesome. Don't really wanna lose that car, seems to be fairly rare (99 B4 RSK Manual)

Coffee beans aye? that can be arranged lol

BTW - Im a Computer Tech, so more than happy to swap services :D

When my GTB went, I removed the engine myself, then got it sorted by Kerry Lindsay in Petone. Even gave me the option of having the heads ported and polished for a nominal charge on top. Free pickup and delivery of the block as well (distance within reason)... really good service :-)

Can't remember exactly what the total cost all up was, but was less than $1000 anyway (my memory fails a bit from 2 years ago)

Alastair at Macbilt provides great service, he does a lot of work on my subie. Had my last motor built by Kerry Lindsay, nice guy but build didnt really go smoothly, wouldnt go there again by choice. Id get the local boys to help you pull the motor then see if someone else can pull it apart

headgasket job should be about $1500-2000 depending how bad it is, if your rings needs replacing, including machining the heads or replacing the block if the bore is warped... for the price you got quoted probably including new water pump, timing belt and thermostats? a full radiator flush also

I think he used to own Maclennans. After all, he is Al Maclennan isn't he? Anyway, they rebuilt my engine. Pretty happy with it.

Yep that's right he did used to own it. Others bought it and his name. Well, brand. They couldn't own his name. or could they ? I digress.

i thought his brother took it over? well i heard it was still in the family..(not sure of my sources atm) lol

$3500 is enough for a great night out on the town and still have change for the head gaskets lol

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
