5 years ago it was about how hideous the Slant eye model was, then the Hatchback, now this.

Not to mention your not comparing base models with base models. The base model GC8 looks like shit, the Sti much better. The base model GD looks like shit, the Sti much better, the base model Hatch looks like shit, the Sti looks awesome.

every car reviewer said it about the bugeye and version 8 even I thought they were fugly when I first seen em but when ya see them up close and personal in the flesh for the first time it kinda changes your opinion even the version 11 was damn fugly till the boss at work got one now I want one the thing is an animal so maybe opinions might change when ya up close and personal

CVT's are the way of the future, so whether u like them or not they will replace the auto

Subaru have been playing with the CVT since ages ago (you could get an AWD justy with a CVT )

to be honest i like cvt, it holds the powerband a sh1tload smoother and isnt slushy at all!

IME a good auto beats a CVT any day.

Thing is the Japs can't seem to make a good auto.

Even the 8-speeder in the big Lexus is crap, forever hunting up and down the range, never in the right gear.

Compare that to the 6 and 7-speeders used in late model Bimmers and Benz; silky smooth when you want it, responsive and aggressive when needed.

And that's before we get to the new generation double-clutch gearboxes.

Think I'm gonna stick with the classic gc shape for some years to come. I mean where are there any simlarities to the original?? You may aswell give it another model name cos all I see is a mongrel blend of any other car bar the impreza. Not good subaru!

As for the later version rexs the only ones I would consider going to would have to the the ver8-9 models. Every other shape don't do it for me. This is one person thats happy to stay in the past on this one...

OK I fit the bill except for Horlicks & pipe and IMO no thanks give me a BC5 any day.

This is just too much like too many other cars of the modern era. The changes for STi version will need to be pretty spectacular to redeem the current look.
