finally got my new pads - got ferodo excell - been told they are the best made by ferodo..

heard some good words abt these..

any of u guys/gals tried this

Who told you that ?

Some guy at Super Cheap/Ripco ?

:D

They are an OK off-the-shelf pad.

Formula/TS2000 are their really good road pads.

Then you go into the DS series race pads.

I wouldnt expect anything from them at the track?

Have you installed them yet? If you havent - take them back!

I use Ferodo Excels on the track, excellent pad!

Bit noisy around town but once they have heat in them they are really good.

In fact less dust than the others i have used and my rotors are still good! I wouldnt pick on them because they are Ferodos.

They're not picking on them just cause they're Ferodo's. In fact the guys above have said good things about Ferodo's.........the Formula Series and then the DS Race pads though.

what size bolt is it at the break caliper..?

14 ay?

thats the only one i will need rite?

yes two 14mm bolts is all.

edit: you may need an 8mm to loosen off the bleed nipple in order to open the caliper a bit.

I would have gone Bendix personally, or something a little more race-spec. Nothing top-notch can come out of Ripco - just stuff that does the job.

like HX20 spec pads you mean?

Take your foot out of your mouth. HX = drums from stock, metals in the front.

so no brake pads in an HX20??? amazing.

hmm i guess i will be the test case for these pads then eh..

hopefully change them in the weekend and then be able to comment ..

PS. race oriented pads be a bit of a bother on the streets just as a safety point i think -- what if need to break suddenly and hard when the breaks are cold as - e.g. a kid runs after a ball right in front of u just few feet from your driveway and u comming out with bold as breaks...shudder...

Well you can get higher-performing goodies - they brake harder than standard fare street sh!t, but on the bad side, they are a compromise - wear out fairly quick and dust like a mad fugger. You've seen my disgusting front wheels ;D

(Someone refresh my memory about the ol' redstuff and yellowstuff gear?)

Read the question, for Pappu's proposed usage the Excels will be OK.

Gross over-generalization re: Ripco, some stores sell Ferodo TS2000 pads, no arguing that they aren't top notch.

Pretty piss-poor effort mate. Your standards have dropped.

If you read between the lines, you'll see two very relevant questions:

1. How do you have any experience with race pads if your car is slower than the average corolla?

2. How do know anything about brake pads if your car has drums?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
