jumping to a quick conclusion from the carjam link I would say plates were swapped early 2006

Well first thing thats obvious - it doesn't have a type R engine ! Thats a ver 2 engine. Appears to be a WRX engine at that.

Looks like the watersprayer bottle is missing as well.

The dash rev counter only goes to 7000rpm redline.

So makes you think retna conversion with wrx bits

I'm almost 100% sure Type R's are from Version 3 to 6.

yes something to do with if the rims are too big it will change your speedo so have to allow for that

Yup, that'd do it.

The Retna was a 1500cc FWD auto - AFAIK all GC1s have those itty bitty skateboard wheels thanks to the drivetrain and lack of displacement.

I heard a rumour there is a sport-spec Retna that was a 2.0L, but iunno if it's true or not.

If it is a retna techincally it will need a cert for the increase in power - the wheels are the least of its issues

The Retna also came with an 1800 and a 2.0, and you could get a four wheel drive. I saw an import for sale not long ago that had an 1800 and the gear stick switchable four wheel drive like that of the NZ new Justy.

i looked into the early coupe's a while back and you could get a wrx/sti coupe as early as 1995 (but i think it was a my96). the reason i remember was because the rally class i run in is pre 1996 and i was thinking of getting a coupe for tarmac rallies, but could still gain points for my championship

i would stay well clear of the advertised coupe, especially for $9k, but some sucker is probably going to buy it
