Now tell me.

Failed a wof on the Legacy due to -

Apparantly the side indicators have clear lenses and need to be orange - but flash orange so whats the issue.

It has factory bilsteins with factory springs yet he failed it because its certified for adjustables and wants it recertified for the non adjustables...can he do this and under what section of the LTSA wof guidelines?

I would say this would be because he doesn't want to get screwed over when 'dodgy boy racer' puts his 'dodgy broken adjusties au' back in the car after he passes it (in his mind)

Yeah I can't remember the specifics of the certing but I'm pretty sure as long as it's not certed for anything else you could just pull the cert plate off...

Plus at a guess the ride height would be outside the +/- 5% allowable with Adjusties?

I dont think he has a leg to stand on Mr Swindog.

Indicators- mention that many many cars come with clear indicators factory.

Suspension-just say the adjusties rode too hard and were too low thus you put the FACTORY shocks/springs in.

Do you have any friends with the same shock/spring combo in to show him?

indicator rules may have changed remember they do do that

OEM is always ok but any After-market parts are frowned upon ie adjustable exhausts like on GTB's are ok BUT you cannot install a similar/same system

but agree indicators should not be an issue

and yea sounds like the cert has to come off/ be updated (not sure if just removing it will solve anything as it should/could be in the 'system' etc.

the rule on the indicator is that it must be visible from X distance and from X angles. if it is non OE, it must be designed as an OEM replacement by a reputable manufacturer and unmodified.

however he is right on the cert. the car without the adjustable suspension may no longer be safe without it. a certifing engineer will need to issue a new cert plate, or perhaps unregister the vehicle from being low volume, if that's even possible.

So i find this out.

You can have a cert without the certified suspension as it was replaced with factory suspension. HOWEVER. Because the inspector had written it in the to fix notes, not the advisement notes I HAD to fix. This caused a stir at the VTNZ station when I called the dude an old fool. So leading up to that, I had to goto to an auto inspector, get it checked the factory suspension was actually factory suspension and have the cert plate removed at acost of $65.

I have also made a complaint against the VTNZ inspector. Indicators were pased after an argument quoting section 4 of the nzta guidelines for directoin indicator lamps.

WOF issued.

the indicator is certainly legal as an aftermarket OEM replacement. it's good you got your wof, but the actual ruling on the cert, i'm still skeptical on. i asked a person who deals with certs all the time (not saying that it's gospel though!).

it sounds like in your case, the only difference has been that the cert plate has been physically removed (or was this "auto inspector" something to do with a cert removal process?)

a vehicle needs to keep the items it is certified for, otherwise it needs to be recertified that it is safe. i.e, your sohc carbied civic now makes 1000hp, and so as part of the certification, it has suitable brakes. changing these suitable brakes back to factory would make the car unsafe in the eyes of the certifier so why should it pass a wof?

even if the suspension was the only cert requiring modification, the cert plate covers the car in its entirety, and not just one aspect of it.

Some of them are dicks and need their heads pulled from their arse(s)...

I ran a leggy with after-market clear lenses for a long-time, indeed the front indicator lamps have clear lenses with amber bulbs still, however some twat (me) accidentally smacked the clear side lamps while moving a ride on lawnmower...

Why anyone would use VTNZ is beyond me....more than half the inspectors are not actually mechanics...you only have to have 5 years industry experince to get a WOF ticket (correct me if im wrong its been years since i last had a wof ticket).

Also they are not government owned anymore but still seem to promote them selves as being a government agency.

Also i dont agree with how someone can issue a wof on a vehicle without a road test!!

How can you ask it to be recertified for factory suspension. SOmething ive never come across before.

However, the auto inspector was a dude in the mount who is a registered auto certifier? Pretty much checks it over and deregisters the cert plate and removes it and the fact its on the system.

Apparantly you cant just take them off anymore, which is what i was going to do.

you can low volume certify a car that's just rolled off the factory floor. it will just list everything as OE. remember it's the vehicle that's being certified, not just one aspect of it. but it looks like you've found the process for returning a low volume car to a mass production car. good to know

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
