235's on a GC8 ?

Looking at tyre options for track , does anyone know what fitment issues I may have using a 235/45/17 on a GC8 ?

im 80% sure albaru had 225's on his gc8. if i can get 245-255's on my rs then im sure youll be fine , would just depend on the offset of your nice new rims

do u have rolled guards? even with 215 40s i got rub on drivers side

Nah they arnt rolled but a mate has a guard roller so easily done.

I have 235/40/17 on mine. Why 45 instead of 40 ?

Use 235/40/17, it is better suited to your gearing. 235/45/17s are a really tall tyre and would cause a few rubbing issues I'd say (plus they look a bit balloon like on a small car like a GC).

Offset is the distance between the centre of the rim (in cm?) and where it mounts to the hub. A positive offset means the wheel mount is quite far out from the centre (like most subaru wheels) whilst a small or negative offset gives you 'dished' rims

Checked and i was wrong they are 235/40/17 not 45.

NT05's are a road tyre, a damn good one (got them on my Golf GTI) but still a road tyre.

NT01 is their race semi-slick.

Yeah I realise that , I would like the NT01 but at almost $100 more per tyre I think a UHP summer tyre is sufficient for the type of racing that I do.

Id rather go out and be moderatly competitive on the cheaper tyre than limit the amount of racing I do cos iv blown the budget on tyres that I probably dont have the confidence to make use of anyway.

Fair enough.

On a sidenote; some reviews have slagged the NT05 on it's wet weather performance, on the road I've found it to be fine in the rain, haven't crashed yet !

235s in any offset are going to cause large rubbing issues without pulling ur gaurds quite along way.. i run 235/40s from kuhmo v70a ithink

I have 225x50x16s. They just fit on the front with normal sti rims 53mm offset. They rub at full lock on the inside but that's no issue for me. On the rear with the above sti rims they bolt up hard against the normal sti struts so I have 5mm spacers which gets them to juuuust fit prob with 2mm clearance to struts. They still rub on strut but only a bit and only under extreme conditions and is no issue.

For this setup I dont think I could make 235 s fit but our cars could be a bit different or you could roll guards or have coil overs installed

i was using 225/45/16s on sti rims and i got the rub on inside of the tyres at full lock on front and hard out rubbing on the back guards when on the track .but rolled the guards and was much better

i can poss get a good price on the nto1 , logans going to use them on his racecar and reckens he can get a good price

Thats exactly what I was quoted , hoping to get closer to $1k
