BP/BL Legacy's, VF38 and auto issues?

Ok, I keep hearing on here that the VF38 turbo is inherently weak/dodgy and even more so in cars with the automatic gearboxes. I\'ve read about oil starvation and removing filters etc but can\'t understand why an auto would munt a turbo any more than a manual box would.

Not looking at getting one of these but would like the question answered, I\'m sure I\'m not the only one.

Cheers.

the filters in oil feed banjo bolts on turbo cars (In My experiance) will only ever gunk up n block starving the turbo of oil if the car has hardly been serviced.

If you run some good engine flush before regular oil changes i cant see them causing issues.

I have a tiptron BP & i rest easy knowing i service it well.

engine flush is made to eat any gunky/sludge shyte in your engine incl built-up crap in a banjo filter

What engine flush do you use Gazzy? I\'m not familiar with it so would be good to know what to get next time I do an oil change :)

i use STP brand from super crap auto, always have done. never had any issues. think its about $15.

instructions on the back of bottle/container

Ta. Is it perfectly acceptable to do engine flush and upper engine cleaner in the same service?

yea i have done that b4 :)

its prolly worth mentioning that if any vehicle has had regular oil changes for its entire life with high spec oil that the build up of sludge is prolly not going to be an issue.

so yea, if i am unsure of a cars service history i always do engine flush treatment for the first 2-3 oil changes. prolly dont hv to do it every oil change

its kinda like the anti freeze debarcle.

ppl dnt realize its not only anti-freeze and anti-boil its anti-corosive AND most anti freeze loses its anti-corossive properties after a 3-5 years (depending on quality) so your alloy internals are no longer protected if its never changed.

Then ppl say "ohh they always crack heads" and its like durrr no sh1t! the car is still running the original jap anti-freeze from 12 years ago (or what ever) and the alloy has simply coroded away.

its all about proventive maintenance aye, theres a reason for everything.. certain vehicles that are renound for cracking heads?? meh! should have changed the anti-freeze when the car was imported dopey!! lol

^All of my hate for that

"hurrrrr engine failed because it\'s bad, nothing to do with the fact it\'s never had a coolant or oil change ever"

fluid changing is only one aspect of looking after your vehicle dopey.

Let me guess, you prolly turned the boost right up with no associated mods, run 91 unleaded in it, do flat shifting, launches, hard core boosting when its not even warmed up and hellies all the time and wonder why the engine shyte itself... and if you didnt do any of that the owner(s) before you prolly did lol

Lol tis the sad truth of many vehicles around

i own a bp5 legacy with 160k on the clock, i service it every 6 months or 10k which ever comes first with proper oil and genuine filter. never gave me problems on the turbo side, runs mint as.

but i also have replaced vf38\'s and td04\'s on heaps of legacys. cause - not properly serviced and poor oil quality :(

thats the price you pay when you dont use right stuff

just to add to this, on the BPs (or any subies with AVCS heads), engine flush will clean the AVCS screens/filters as well as the turbo oil feed filter.

I just did a sweet oil change yesterday with Magnetec 10w 40 and STP engine flush.

I hate the sound of the engine first starting up after a oil change.. so i always remove the crank sensor plug and crank over the engine until the oil light goes out.. about 7-15 secs of cranking, then plug the crank sensor plug in and away we go.

We have benn changing the oil on our BP every 6-7 thousand KMs as it doesnt get boosted like a normal turbo car.. the missus is a wuss. I have used Engine flush the last 3 times, but prolly wont the next time as the oil looks clean as!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
