v8 sti (jdm) has E/L headers. v7 sti still has the burble :)

Know that. 250T headers sound sick.

How do the spats mount? Imo they look hideous.

Off topic, but has anyone else noticed that 250T\'s have the suby rumble....Im assuming they have unequal length headers, although I was under the impression that only turbo models got them?

250T is non turbo ej25. No rumble theyre equal length single scroll. V8 sti are twin scroll, equal length.

My apologies I was guessing at the year that I read it, you are quite right, we did;t get them until 2001, I simply assumed I would have read it in 2000 as that is when the car was released in Japan, and I remember it definitely being a stock V7sti not the special edition RA which many believe is to this day the fastest stock sti EVER down the 1/4mile, have even seen a BMI video that shows one knocking out a mid 12 (although I think it was a spec C ra). Makes the current sti look pretty slow lol

/quote]

You have me intrigued...

I\'m pretty sure it wasn\'t NZ Autocar you read, so what was it ?

Another search for the vault...

I remember those BMI videos, JDM 100 octane gas wouldn\'t have hurt those times either.

;)

yeah now I am starting to wonder which one it was.... I still can remember the one sentence really clearly saying something along the lines off "we managed a best 0-100 time of 6 flat but without serious clutch abuse the car was easily into the 7 second zone"... that sentence always stuck in my brain because it seemed so bad for a car which I had worshiped as a teenager and the picture of the KW curve from the dyno which was really uneven, lots of peaks and valleys and then the post tune curve being much smoother.... I wonder who it could have been? Could have been Wheels but aren\'t they Australian anyway?

On another note a stock STI doing a 12.5 is simply nuts when you think about it, that\'s R34 GTR quick.

VERY TRUE

the stock tune is very knocky and the gains to be had are a LOT even with just an exhaust plus retune

have done a fait few and always picks a lot of thrust and better comming on boost too

/quote]

Just Out of interest, how much does a tune usually cost? I\'ve noticed that my V7 STi does feel slightly boggy low down compared to my old V4 STi..

Take it to someone reputable such as NZ EFI and it will be around 600-1000 I believe. They seriously know their stuff and have done many (not saying that others don\'t though).

Wouldnt a pre v7- sti do that if it was reflashed with ecutek? But then not stock. But surely with some flat shift and hard core launch? I did a 12.7 with stock non sti v5 gf8 only mod vf23 @ 15psi. Big difference between driving hard and racing the clock.

tunes are 250 and yea very good smoothing of power etc on it

thats open source tweaking tho not the ecu tek (u need to take to ecutek place to do ecutek as far as i know)

yea the RA are quick i think also due to weight being abt 100kg lower

have done virtual road dyno on them and results confirm

Newsuba - would you have a copy of that V7 RA test by any chance

i would love to read the article ;D

damm y cant we get 100octane gas

edit:

http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=zx5400 - thats low as km\'s for that car and repainted blue?

prob turned into someones track / rally car

all the original articles on v7 constantly say how much of a laggy pig they are for a new car, take forever to come on boost like old school 3.5-4k spool up / cant hit full boost in first sort of thing - ive never driven a dead stock one so cant comment

be thankful we didnt get the detuned audm ones as well ha

yea man its rather bad when in stock form

graphs dont really show how bad the torque hole is under the 3krpm

hence a tune and its much better in that depqartment

the best thing i find is able to use 6th gear on 55kmph after tune whereas before u have to drop to 5th if not 4th to keep it puttering along...

one of the great things about the V7 sti is you spend 2k on zaust and ecu and panel filter and then maybe 600 on anti lift kit and rear sway bar and BAM they are a totally different car capable of destroying any factory sti

Why repaint it ?

White is THE RA colour.

I\'ve got a copy of the mag but my scanner is fubar >:(

I\'ll scan the article as soon as i find a replacement.

Umm, not to pick but spend 2k on exhaust, ECU, and 600 on Suspension you will dick any other STI surely???

Or do you mean comparatively the V7 gives better results for said mods than other years?

please repeat your question as your first sentence just repeats exactly what I said so I don\'t understand what you are asking

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
