can you run a v8 ecu in a v7?

yes, it\'ll work

BUT

your fuelling and boost maps will be off, your boost limits on the wrx are much lower than the sti. the compression ratios are different too.

also, the v8 has a different MAF sensor scaling, throwing your maps even further out.

my $0.02, just get the standard ecu reflashed. much easier.... quicker, cleaner.

Worth mentioning, when you install a Link G4 plug-in there\'s a jumper you have to swap depending on whether it\'s an STI or WRX. I believe it has something to do with the STI having AVCS heads and the WRX not having them. Might be worth checking.

Ur v7 ecu can easily be retuned almost as good as the other ecu

Depending on mods it will be easier to get it done on the stock ecu

And tuning is cheap

Put up a List of mods u have and what u planning on getting

Depending in the mods u can use stock ecu tune or if it is getting a bit too serious then the hks may be the go

The hks is not tuned by many tuners here in nz so the support is not as good as say a link

If u really wanted to get the hks then u can put a base map for ur v7 on it and it can be tuned from there

If ur car is Jdm and the ecu is from Jdm v8 then yea it will plug in with no wiring change needed

The map on it will be differen and need adjustment tho hence maybe better to start with ur own model base map

Anyway list up ur mods

What area u from

Some non sti have avcs tho need to check as have seen 2000 and 2001 with it so not a year thing.

my 2000 v7 gda has avcs too

with those mods 260kw atw may be abit enthusiastic imo especially,if its still running non sti wrx v7 longblock - just thinking out loud don\'t take it the wrong way, it will pump out a good power figure but may not last long

I\'m with B-MAGIC here. 260kw at the wheels is a serious amount of power to be putting through a non-STi WRX engine.

And if you\'re going RWD? I\'d say go buy a Nissan and make double the power with half the effort.

It\'s mostly the Nz new v7 wrx that had no avcs

The Jdm ones had avcs

Also the non avcs ones had a cat in up pipe as well

Nice list of mods

Should do almost what u want before the afm starts to max

But with the weaker wrx block may we best to keep it lower

Also depends what point ur turbo maxes out

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
