3.0R-B spec Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Got a new wagon on Friday, awesome to be back in a Subaru.

Couple of questions.

1. The second of two keys keyless entry button isn't working. When you put the key in the door lock, and open it the alarm goes off until you quickly put the key in the ignition and then the alarm goes off! It also doesn't open any door but the drivers. This is less than ideal! any ideas on how to fix?

2. I am the first NZ owner of the car, bought it off a dealer on the north shore. who is a good place to take it for a good initial service and look over? Subtech? Or someone else?

Thanks!

+1 for @Subirex Automotive, have also heard good things about Subtech and they were really helpful when I emailed them about things in the past. Probably depends on where you are based too.  Subirex does after hours/weekend drop-offs, which is pretty much the only time I can take my car anywhere since I have a 9-5 desk job.

And welcome to the 3.0R club!

Yup yup, also another SubiRex Supporter here. You can go there have him check out your car while you look at mine being fixed once again haha.

hahaha unfortunately it does seem like it but nah, something electrical in my car has caused a rather major issue, so motor coming out tonight and heads off... Should have pictures...

Heres to hoping it's just a piston and no block / head damage

See the thing is, if it's just rings, then amazing as it could've just been a bad batch which would be very ideal overall.

it was definitely bore wash, but once that happens, rings get real warm, oil makes its way past and it requires a tear down. Maaaybe find a bit of gouging on the cylinder wall I reckon.

hey @dirtysouth I bought one from Sanz cars on the north shore. I had eyed it up for a couple of months and finally went and bought it on friday. pretty hoary so far and drove a few. a lot seem pretty rough coming in from japan. What ones are you looking at?

thanks @willisnz I figure I'll get a good feel on my car as it is standard, what needs fixing and servicing, see how it goes for a few months and then see what upgrades/tweaks I might consider.

Wise approach. I'm still ironing out kinks in my car I got at the end of last year (baby getting in the way of car stuff...) so am still yet to do any real upgrades!
