Hey guys....anyone on here running a 10 second gc8?

Im interested in going down this path with my R and just wanted some info/advice

What would be the approx cost for a 10 second setup?

Buzz Evilra, he is building a 10 sec wrx...

Cost wise, yeah....not cheap I'd say an easy 10k minumum.... Just go with the formula of work out a budget and double it. You gotta take into account everything from engines, turbos, fuel setup to even tyres and suspension setups.

10 seconds on the street will require another marque.

I wouldn't bother with a Subaru if I was chasing quarter mile times.

Shoehorn a 4G63 and running gear into it and bolt a GT35R onto it.

Probably cheaper and easier than doing it with an EJ engine and Subaru gearbox.

EJ257/GT35R/6speed would be my path if i was building 10sec GC8.

Budget, probably 25k-30k but depends on how much you can do yourself in terms of fabrication/wiring and tuning.

Depends if you want it reliable. It could be done on the cheap it your not worried about breaking stuff

There are some quality DVDs about the subject. 'The fast and the furious' is a good example.

Check them out first, then come back here for subby specifics.

i think plenty of people on here are making the power to do the numbers.

its having the light weight and the traction and bulletproof drivetrain to do it to get those numbers that are proving difficult for subarus.

we've got 1 of the strongest gearboxes (6spd) and a CG8 without loosing too much out of it u get it to a low 1.2 to a med 1.1ton thats not bad and 4 traction we got the DCCD and some good tires to take care of it, so its all there and a 10 is not as hard as u think but most subi drivers think that its only good to do laps

talk to speed source, kent built a v8 on the cheap just to proove a subie could do a 10 without spending mega bucks.

It was still running a top mount, basically it was a forged engine, modified twin scroll turbo, cams and a little head work, nitrous and a new ecu.

I think the AVCS heads are the key.

but if you cant do the work yourself you'd be looking over $20K

From what iv been todl that turbo cost close to $10k to build..how true that is im not sure but was from a pretty good source....So the fact they claim they used a factory turbo is pretty irrelevant.

10k turbo? and was making something like 270kw 311kw w/nos i dont think so any garrett turbo would have got the same result you could even get close with just a vf22 or a 20g tdo5

but they spent hte money to say that its a "vf36" or 37 whatever it was...the only thing 37 on it was the cover....

They were trying to show what can be done with a "factory" turbo which is a load of rubbish really

I still dont think so I reckon there was very little done to the turbo running good cams good fuel like c16 big shot of nos very easy to get to 300kw with the right fuel high compression ratio u dnt need lots of boost so a vf37 is fine

if this is the case why arent there dozens of these cars doing 10s in the country?
