  1. Nice to know you can still pull the birds in the Subbie

  2. Today I was driving and had a near miss with a bird... or so I thought. Got back home and opened the bonnet only to have a bird fly out and almost hit me. It got caught by the bonnet scoop and was just sitting on the intercooler for the rest of the drive. Not sure who was more shocked, the bird or me. Spent the next five minutes pulling feathers out of the intercooler fins. #SubaruProblems

  3. Got my muffler silencer jammed in and couldn't remove it. Made up this Ghetto set up to "gently tap" it out.

  5. This might be useful and I figured best to get it online before I go and accidentally wipe it https://ufile.io/9547e <-- ECU definition for ECUflash. I've forgotten the ins and outs of it, but you need to replace what it tries to open the legacy stock rom with, with this https://ufile.io/caf54 <-- The last tune I loaded onto my wagon, some emphasis on off-throttle pops and bangs with this one. It's pretty aggressive and my car had FMIC, 2.5" downpipes and silicone intake pipe - your mileage may vary as those things do make a marked difference to how much it wants to grenade. That said - it still runs less timing on boost than the stock rom does https://ufile.io/90b75 <-- A pretty safe tune for 95% of the cars out there, loading this on will result in the VOD being effectively gone, ping gone on gull or BP 98, and vastly improved mileage. I think it's pretty safe on 95 as well from memory but please see above I've got a dozen other variations if anyone wants them, still have stock flashes off auto and manual GTB's and I think I have an S204 (202? whatever the sti B4 is) rom renamed something stupid which was not really any great improvement other than more revs and boost bro I sold reflashed ECU's to a few in various states of modification who all came back with glowing feedback, it is a legit "best bang for the buck" thing you can do to these cars Also I'm not dead, this is just the first time I've been on my car-S*** laptop for several months (ha) - currently driving a POS cedia turbo while saving for something worthwhile

  7. First of all, you need a tunable ecu. So, shell out about 2.5k for a wire in link. Add install, maybe another $500 as there are no plug and play options to my knowledge. Then between 1k-$1500 to tune it. And for a total of between 3-4 grand you might get 20 or 30hp. The problem with tuning n/a's is return on investment. You have to put in a LOT of money to get anything back. In saying that An eg33 svx with itb's, a good set of headers, agressive cams and increased compression would sound really freakin cool

  8. changed spark plugs. one of the coil pack plugs fell off the coil as i was doing it. so, cant confirm if bosch plugs or bad connection was causing weird intermittant miss. can confirm idles a LOT nicer. moved it round on the driveway, that was about it.

  17. I changed the gear linkage knuckle in my new subie today. It felt like a hotdog down a hallway before and now it feels nice and tight. It is definitely not a fun job though, very fiddly to do while crawling under the car.

  20. You sure the stahlcar one won't work @A_J_T its just a rebranded vagcom cable, they work for older 4th gens so would have thought they do for 3rd's. though it meams you have to use the older software which can be a pain to get working.

  23. If you want to go faster, get a light 17" rim... Semi slicks are much cheaper in 17 too. Is this Gregs old car? Ohh and good on you for getting out there and racing, so many talk the talk, but never follow through!

  24. Have you got a v7 sti short block going in? stock block wont go there. Regardless, there has to be a weak point. imo rather have the clutch slip a little on a gnarly launch than saying goodbye to your gearbox.
