Unfortunately as it was installed at a dealers I wouldnt imagine they asked the installer to have it installed around the turbo timer. If you take it in to Installer Services in Manukau they will be able to wire it properly for you or even utilize the onboard turbo timer so you can sell your external. Their contact number is 2634434

Hi Brad,

I've got a couple of problems with my S5 that was installed in march.

Everytime the car is parked out in the hot hot sun the alarm goes off.

There hasn't been many hot days since it was installed but it has happened every time.

Today it is hot and sunny (car is indicating 25, sunburn hot, yehhh Hawkes Bay :) ) and I was parked at a cafe and the alarm went off. about 2 minutes later it went off again. I disarmed it and locked car on factory remote.

Two weeks ago we had another hot sunny day. Alarm went off. In April we went to watch a rally and it was a really hot day and the alarm went off. That is basically every hot day we have had while the car has been parked out in the sun.

I pulled out the PAT memory the following codes. (did it twice and wrote them down to make sure I had it right)

Shock sensor and Door as last triggers? Doesn't seem right at all. I pulled the code in April and was 8, bonnet/boot.

Everytime it has gone off I have been in sight of the car. The car is garaged at night and basically all week.

Now it is getting warmer I don't want it going off all the time.

I contacted you a few months ago via toyspeed. I kept getting 4 chirps from the alarm after parking in my garage and arming it. This still happens very regularly. Was pretty bad one night at a motel one night when it chirped 4-5 times after coming back late. I got the shock sensor turned down one stage but it still does it.

Any idea on the temperature thing?

Presume I could get this looked at under warranty but don't want it to go on on with the installer not finding anything.

Hiya, im not sure if this an alarm issue or not, but im trying to change out the old double din head unit in my 1990 legacy, what happens is when i disconnect the head unit the alarm key fobs wont work and the turbo timer stays on, when i reconnect the old head unit all is back to normal. Any ideas what might be causing this? the stereo harness looks original. cheers

update: ok Julian from http://www.vehiclesecurity.co.nz sorted me out, the previous installers buggered up the install. Now i can turn off the turbo timer with my remote, which was a feature the previous installers didn't know it had?, and the new head unit works perfect.

I've also got a query for the AVS guys about my alarm.

I've got a S5 in my WRX and when its alarmed it randomly chips 4 times. Theres nothing touching it, all the doors and windows are shut and it appears to happen utterly randomly. ??? sometimes itll do it once, others many times while its sat there.

The manual makes no mention of 4 chirps unless its been activated, but this happens when its just sitting there. Its chirps then continues as if nothing had even happened, and it doesnt inform me of it having been activated while it was alarmed when i disarm it :-\

Its really quite odd. Other then that, its a really good system, it seems much better then the other alarms ive had in the past!

This will be the first stage of the shock sensor giving out a warning. From time to time I get this as well.

Shock sensor may need calibration. If its chirping when just standing there, sensor is being too touchy. Should only chirp if you give it a bump on the drivers door pillar...if you hit it hard enough, this can sometimes exceed the sensor's threshold and set the alarm off.

Doctor i have a question.

So the rex i brought had a avs S5 in it. Firstly the turbo timer was not installed, how much would this cost to get wired in?

and secondly, it randomly chirps 4 times when its just parked. Maybe like 3 times a day, is this like above, a over sensitive shock sensor? And or would this be a low battery warning? ???

Cheers, RD

I have an older model 4 star one, and it's plenty loud when running off battery power. When utilising the battery backup function it is however imo lacking in volume (but makes sense I guess)

Siren volume is dictated by it mounting location and there is never a one volume suits all solution of course. The sirens are extremely loud in most situations but things like engine bay sound deadening, what they are pointing at and if they have gotten water in them will effect this of course. If you want it louder all you need to add is a horn honk relay and this will honk the horn in time with the indicators when the alarm is activated :)

Hey throwing this question here because it related to the install of my AVS S-5.

Was installed a week ago, found that while the turbo timer was timing down I am unable to "arm" (lock whatever the doors), meaning I am killing it early or waiting the duration of the TT to arm the car.

Went back yesterday, after consulting with a person from AVS they recommended it to, so they could change the wiring. On pickup I was told they had to change some wiring with the TT as well as the alarm to make it work.

Now it will arm while the TT is timing down, but the timer is stopping after only 10-15 seconds (well short of the timing down).

Any ideas? If I take it back again, they might be upset with me, this will be the 3rd time back after the install!

*EDIT* Sucked it up and went back to the installer. They phoned AVS and found that it was a simple setting to make the alarm stop immobilising after 5 seconds effectively killing the TT. All is well.

Is there any special brand of turbo timer that works with the AVS alarms?

Im looking at the AVS A4 alarm but want to know what sort of turbo timer options there are with it.

Just get an S5, with the built in turbo timer. Probably work out to be around the same price as buying an aftermarket one and having it installed

+1

I use the TT with mine on a 2 minute CD and you need to program is to not imobilise for a period of time afterwards.

Just an extra thing to go wrong, AVS S5 ftw.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
