Who said type R's had to be STi's?

Found this on trade me. Parts computer says it's a WRX, Type R, VLTD ("WRXRVLTD"). Applied model: GC8E27D

I wonder if the TE-37's are factory... i knew they we optional, and on VLTD's, but didn't know they went back as far as V4.

Also something to note for new players. There's more than one STi Type R. Type R simply means coupe. You could get STi type R's, or STi RA type R's. The RA R's hat the roof scoop, and no aircon etc, the normal type R's were... well... normal. And now i know they even had WRX type R's...

And when people say the 22B was based of a type R, technically, it was an RA type R

Nothing to add specs wise but its pretty beat up.

Outsides tidy(ish) but interior is a mess, Shaylaj looked at that one before settling on her WRX.

you can tell them the different between the STI ones and the normal JDM type r one by the roof scoops which the sti dont get.

Unique in being the only JDM coupe to get ABS, so no DCCD.

Think the TE37 were standard.

Model was only made for one season.

The "RA" is a four door sedan that shares the running gear with the "type r"coupe.

coupes came in two main configurations.the "type r"sti with dccd etc or the "ltd" editions that are not sti and came with roof scoops etc and are mostly a budget version of the full on "type r'.nearly all "ltd" coupes are blue and carry limited edition badges but they are not sti's.

i know of two guys that used to own one of these, its pretty much what you get in a ver4 jdm wrx but without the two extra doors and with a hole in the roof. thats about it.

it comes with yellow injectors, orange afm, vf22, sti gearbox and a EJ20K motor ( HF pistons) but not shim over bucket heads

Actually v5 and 6 sti type r came with roof scoop as well.

However the 3/4 sti type r didnt the wrx model did.

yeah there isnt much v5/6 type r that i know of apart from MNT ( turtle ) which is a 5 but dont think his has a roof vent?

StiLTD on here has a v5 sti with a scoop so must be a limited however had normal interior

Also got a mate whos got a v6 sti type r but must be a what ever model they call with the blue interior cause got vent and blue interior

There were V5/6 WRX RA Limited sedans, main differences were engine tune and ABS instead of DCCD.

V5/6 Limited coupes were only STI.

Best were the STI RA sedans which got a helical LSD upfront.

V5 Limited, V for five, not Victory as in earlier cars

Wasnt there a Grandma Coupe at one stage? came out with with 1.5 NA auto or the like?
