Get a Gps tracker with battery backup and keep it well hidden. if alarm gets tripped it will call (sos )and then text you the coordinates and location of car, then you can rush back to the car with a base ball bat or track it via google map

GPS are they way to go. Alarms are so 1990's.

If you have a good alarm (AVS, Mongoose, Dynatron) you can normally get an add-on that will phone texting alerts.

Otherwise a good GPS system is Blackhawk, but unsure of prices.

I have a Mongoose M60G.. would the add on be ok from Trademe or is it better to buy & install through the company that did my alarm?

Ahh fuck. I'm pretty confident in the person who installed it (Has done my cd players and alarms for the past 3 years) but how do I check if its good? Should I "steal my own car"?

Main things to note would be the positioning of sensors, the location of the bonnet switch and where the wires are running. Make sure you cant get to the bonnet switch from under your car. If they can get to the brain of the alarm your screwed. I know alot of the Dynotron alarms can be deactivated with a couple of hairpins.
