They're probably using a lot of diesel for heating in the northern hemisphere at the moment, guess that would drive demand up. Suppliers will be rubbing their hands together thinking "how much more can I get away with charging when people really need it..."

The main petrol companies bumped 91 octane to almost $1.98 a litre yesterday, while 95 octane is now almost $2.05 a litre. Diesel is just under $1.34.

I recall convoying with a 1995 GT Apex Toyota Levin (4AGE powered AE101), my mates 1998 RS-B and my 1995 GT wagon. The Levin went through more gas (by a solid amount!) than the Subaru's. That's what happens when you rape an N/A car, trying to catch up with 2 turbo vehicles 'just cruising'

To this note - will have no hesitations in filling up the WRX with a full tank of 98 when we're ready to depart for Whitianga

(around lunchtime on the 27th - everyone else stay off the roads so we've got no traffic plz)

that is the plus side there might be less cars on the road so less crashes as when you speed you use more gas so we won't need as many traffic cops so the police will actually be able to police the streets and catch the criminals.

also it makes modifying your car cheaper as compared to a tank of gas that mod no longer seems as expensive

Try regularly filling skyline tanks, there 65lts, where the WRX is only 55lt, smaller tank and gets a little more kms

WRXs are actually pretty reasonable for day to day use on gas. Its just the 4wd that kills them.

But heck i reckon an 8 grand run about car would easily pay for itself over 2 years as a daily driver, whilst he garages the rx7.

I never once referred to the fact that he moans about gas prices, because similarly to myself - he couldn't give a fark. For some (Gen-Y) driving is more than a method of transport - it's a way of life, a way to express yourself and (in some cases) a way to find someone to go home with. Some of us just ignore what gas costs, due to the high level of enjoyment we get from driving around in our cars. For my mate - he's more than happy to drive his black S7 FD, sacked on adjustables with 19x8.5's on the back to work and back, even VIA a bottle shop if he's a bit thirsty. So what?

Mate of mine just told me that his new (not brand new, but upgraded) 16k jetski peeled through $100 of gas in 3 hours last weekend.

He's not crying about it. He's happy. He came into work on Monday with a MASSIVE grin.
