highest octane.

okay so i know there's 91 95 97 98 octane that gets sold at gas station.what is the highest ocatne that a street car can run on?iv heard a theory that all subarus get tuned on 100octane in japan,but no one has confirmed this yet,

so saftly what is the highest octane i could run in my car without risking anything?

you are not allowed to pump it into your car...

must be a container/race car on a trailer etc and sometimes you have to sign for it/produce a Car Club membership

BP98 is fine... Av Gas is not worth it - dyno runs have proved it

your ECU learns the slightly lower octane.... self retarding

edit : a 'reset' is required to get the benefit.. there is a link around here to get the most power quickly out of a reset..

well after reading this im a little worried.

I put $50 of the E10 from gull (98ron+10%ethanol) into my beast to try out going to Taupo last weekend.

O.M.G.... I noticed the difference almost immediately, boost climbed faster and actually went past my normal boost cut off point (1bar) it also held boost better as it usually tapers off as the revs climb. she even had more nuts off boost.

I then put in $50 of the crap fuel I normally use for the trip back and what a let down now I think Im gonna replace the rubber sections of fuel hose and replace the injector o rings and anything else that needs doing so I can run E10 all the time. then Im ready for when E85 comes then it just a retune to make the most out of it.

hehehe I love more power.

I still don't believe that the NZ new cars from 1990 onwards had superior fuel hoses and o-rings etc over the JDM models for a fuel that hadn't been thought about for widespread usage. I have a feeling that its the typical bullshit to get you to buy an NZ new car rather than imported.

Still waiting on Gull to turn up in ChCh :(

cheers for the comments guys,i hear the new comapny thats taking over shell will be sell 98 gas also!ithink a gas station in nz shuld sell 100 102 octane for use subaru drivers lol :D

how was the mileage compared to normal 98?

fark you guys risk it prty bad,but i gues if you cant get it then you cant,iv never eva run anything less than 98.bp gas station is at the top of my road :D

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
