hey guys got new tires today and they appear too stick out alot futher than my last tires of the same size , this has caused more gaurd rub also :( does the fitting of tires effect how stretched they are ?

Posted

My guess is they have "thicker" rim protectors. I have two pairs of Bridgestone RE050A's and one pair has rim protectors that stick way out past the rims and the other pair don't. Otherwise everything else is the same i.e. overall tread width etc.

na different brand but they vary quite alot , just more than i thought they could between brands haha

ohhh okay yeah that sounds like it because they seem too stick out more and fill the gaurds waay more than the last set

Agree with koom. Lip protectors can make a big difference. in width.

Especialy if you were running pretty close to the guard already.

Where are you located? I have a guard roller if you are new Hamilton.

yeah that must be it aye , thanks guys . yeah i was about a finger and a half width from gaurd before now not even that haha ::) im in waiuku bro , thanks for the offer but their already rolled too haha

look up 'actual' wheel measurements.. tyres that propose to be like 235 for example rarely are actually 235mm wide.. I've seen from as low as 227mm to 242mm in that size last time i was looking at things.

I agree with Koom, Funkytown is right too, I work for Bridgestone Commercial as a fleet serviceman, I often see major differences in cap width of retreaded truck tyres due to extra sidewall rubber, which adds to the section width of the casing.

the "width" is not always the tread width,it is most of the time the "widest" part of the tire, most usually the sidewall.

I would never put a tire on the incorrect width of rim BUT that is just me...

Right, many people misunderstand those numbers stamped on the side of tyres...

The width number is the width of the tyre from sidewall to sidewall, not tread width, as measured when the tyre is unstressed.

Lots of problems would be easily avoided if folks fitted the right sized wheel/tyre combo for their cars...

Thats true, its referred to as 'section width' given in millimeters from wall to wall. Tyre sizes a unusual as they combine metric, imperial and percent . A 205/65R16 has a section width of 205mm, the 65 is the percentage of section width which dictates the 'profile' of the tyre, and the R16 refers to the wheel diameter given in inches. The R only indicates that the tyre is of radial (steel belt) construction as opposed to cross ply (rayon or cotton ply) The ply rating, for example 6 ply tells us that a radial tyre with one steel ply is equivalent to 6 cotton plys. Hope this helps :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
