lvv for Exhaust

i just put a new muffler on my subi, rear axle back 4" tip, do i need a LVV for this.... my mate mentioned something about one, can someone help????

you dont need an LVV cert, but some people need a noise level cert but only if you get wof failed or hassled by the cops.

a removable silencer will fail a wof if they spot it

technically you can fail with a removable silencer, i pointed out to the wof inspector that i can remove the whole exhaust at the downpipe with 2 bolts, the same as the silencer. he thought it was a fair point.

i currently have a catback exhaust. not not the quietest exhaust out there, i will be looking to chuck on a xforce downpipe soon. what r the chances i will be needing a cert for that?

I had a full xforce system and it was loud, never got hassled by cops though and passed warrants after bolting a silencer in, in saying that I got sick of the noise and now have a genome rear muffler and love it. What I\'m saying is if you go for a noise cert chances are you\'ll fail, just don\'t drive like an idiot and have respect to cars on the road around you and in my experience you never get bothered.

Pretty much any 3" flowy exhaust will be way over the limit, technically. But whether you\'ll get failed on it is another story altogether.

My 3" downpipe into Zerosports cat-back (which is JASMA rated) was 2dB over when they tested it.

All at that discretion of your wof guy and the local constabulary Im full 3inch straight through with one resonator and a straight through muffler at the rear and its really loud if I boot it....

If ya drive like a dick everywhere your bound to get pinged for it.

Drive responsibly and sit up straight ,not reclined in the back seat and put a bit of curve in ya flat peak hat and ya should be fine Bro

is there a way to make the exhaust tone deeper?

just asking on behalf of a mate

had a 3 inch system with 2 reso and single cannon

was thinking putting a different cannon to make it deeper? (removing the reso will make it just louder or affect tone?)

Both I think bro brutal4 is one loud car but has a deep tone straight through exhaust no resonators

also what if I drive my olds man v8 which is noisy from stock. will I need a exhaust cert for that? or do v8s get away with being noisy seeing as a majority of them are noisy (not talking about the new model v8s)???

They put a sticker on the tip visible without jacking it up and one further up also I think. And a piece of paper showing sizes and stock/aftermarket mani etc.

Stock noisy cars somehow are ok.

I will forever fail to understand why even a moderately loud car will fail (my 3" downpipe into 2.5" with 1 resonator and was 1 or 2 dB over) yet motorbikes, particularly Harleys, can be obsurdly loud and not have any issues.

agree but most of those harleys probably have non vtnz warrants some 45s live round my way amd their bikes are stupidly loud

They come like that from the manufacturer so they\'re exempt from needing a noise cert.

nah these guys have kuryaken exhausts so they are modified and ear splittingly loud, our structural engineer at work has the new dynaglide which while loud would pass the db test

Who in aucks does thoes LVV noise tests? Also anyone know how much? Thanks
