Reliable mechanic in welly area

Hey guys,

This question has probably been asked a lot, but where is the best/most reliable place to get something looked at/general service perferably close to the city?. I am new to the area so have no clue where to go. Looks like the rear diff in my 03 wrx might be leaking, also need to get the brakes replace/skimmed. Please bear in mind I am a student and money is tight at the moment, so the "cost effective" option would be best haha but am willing to pay for good service.

Thanks in advance and hope everyone is ok after mother natures little temper tantrum.

Yea I would like to but don\'t have the Room/Tools here to do so, and since I\'m new thought it would be a bit presumptuous to ask for help on one of my first posts haha. Was told to get in touch with the guys at Flat four Specialists so will see what they come back with.

STM

STM and "money is tight" = incompatible.

They certainly do good work, but they charge accordingly.

Still ~$30/hour less than Armstrong Subaru, at the end of the day ;D

I second Ray Hartley. Been going there since macclennans closed. Have always found them great people to deal with.

I can third Ray Hartly. Top class , honest bloke, did his time as an apprentice with my Father back in the days of yore. His workers are great also!

Funnily enough he was going to buy my Legacy from the dealers when it came into the country, so he knew a lot about my exact one already. Until he found a 6 cylinder model at another dealer.

Top bloke! ;D

All the work i have had done on my car has been done by either Rick (Ichi) or Brendan and the guys at FFS and i have been more than happy with the work done by both

Rick is a bit more spency but he was named Subarus number 2 mechanic in the world and number 1 for NZ and as others have said a guru

FFS recently swapped my turbos out from vf18/19 to VF 26/27 for a damn good price, and have just had both up pipes a downpipe and engine mount done out at their new workshop out the back of pauatahanui inlet on Flightys Road - excellent service and sharp pricing - several members here use these guys and all seem more than happy with the service - https://www.facebook.com/FlatFourSpecialists?fref=ts

Pm me if you want some more info/contact details

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
