And can you tell the difference when you are driving between a cheapish tyre and a higher end one? Sorry only have Ovations on mine, cost $140 each.

The difference is like living or dying. Literally.

I have gone off Nitto after trying both Invo and Neo gens. Had a better experience with RE001s.

Not surprised, Invo and Neos are mediocre.

The extreme NT05 is a whole new ballgame, with a few reservations, it rates near at the top of the tree for street legal tyres.

I would put them on par with the legendary BS RE010R/RE070.

:D

I thought that one of the arms in the rear of my car had lost a bolt. Turned out it was just the nankangs that I'd chucked on due to lack of job/funds at the time.

I was never a tyre snob but I always put nice tyres on my nice cars. I brought a second hand set of rims with no name rubber on them and yes the difference was very noticable to me and I am no Schumacher. After two days I had to swap back and those tyres are sitting on a shelf waiting to be destroyed in a skid pan somewhere.

Looking at finally getting a set of Bridgestone MY02 tyres for my car. Safety first in my eyes when it comes to tyres. Got a good price on a set of 4 tyres, has any one had these on their cars before? Was between these and the Bridgestone Potenza RE003 I think they were. Directional tyres both of them.

Opinions.

Cheers.

I had MY02's for a set, they were fine for a tyre really, nothing amazing and nothing terrible. Grip was good overall but would break traction if really pushed (non turbo Legacy here haha). Now running RE002's and they're awesome. Can't complain, and got them at a stellar price too.

there's a current/2015 tire thread in the Wheels and suspension area :P (will merger with that shortly)

edit I cant even find it right now (we have too many sections which are under review)

i see a few tire threads in the Brakes & steering section http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/forumdisplay.php?31-Brakes-Suspension-and-Steering

  • 2 weeks later...

Would recommend the Ventus V12 Evo (K110) over the S1 Evo2 for performance applications, very good performance for what you pay.

With that said, a taxi I fitted S1 Evo 2s to ran 80k on the rears. Driver was very satisfied with the performance and (lack of) road noise. Fronts are still going so we will have to see how they do.

Damn good price for the AD08R, much better than the GY (the Asymmetric 2 is the only GY worth buying), Directional 5 is a namby pamby tyre.

Does Megatyre actually have RS3's ???

A couple of months ago I was looking for new tyres and no one had RS3's in stock.

None of my favourite Nitto NT05 either :(

Started with RE002 < crap on the GTI (OEM was the RE050A - still the best current roadtyre from BS, not tried RE003 but doubt it will be better than RE050A), ended up on T1-Sports.

NT05 came out in 2009, so I wouldn't say it's a very current tyre either?

What are RE003's worth, they sound ok, but from previous experience the bigger brands seem to charge more? I ran some Nankang NS2R's at Manfeild in the weekend, still very much a road tyre, not a proper semi, but for 1k I was pretty happy in 215/45/17 and I surprised an Evo or two still. Life expectancy, well time will tell on that!

Dairusire was after 225/40R18 RS3s a while ago but our Hankook supplier wanted $999 per tyre so he noped out.

We're waiting for the Ventus V12 Evo 2 (K120) to come in to put on his car. Supplier says they don't know when it's meant to be coming in, but they've been available in the US for a couple of months.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
