Pulstura
Hey guys! I'm new to this forum :). I currently own a 2003 NZ New WRX Wagon. I was wondering what the differences are with NZDM and JDM wrx's. I know that USDM and JDM have a few difference, but are there any major changes between the 2? Also is there a specific way to find out if the car model is V7 or V8? I know people usually look at the the design of the car and associate it with V7 or V8 but I'm just wondering if they ever added a V7 motor into a V8 shell. Heres a picture of my car!
IZichard
Welcome to the club, nice wagon! What happened to the fog light? That is a version 8. Fairly sure the differences NZDM vs JDM with your car are just little things. Front grill, speedo, seats (maybe?) also the little end cap bits on the side skirts and rear bumper. Not sure if there are any more. The tune will likely be a little more conservative to allow for the lower quality fuel.
Kiwi_Fozze
Nzdm is a similar spec to the usdm stuff, catted up pipe, tgv's, 240kmh speed cut, significantly less power etc etc Chassis code is the way to tell if you are a v7 or 8 chassis, ggaa and ggab model codes are rev a and b v7 Ggac and ggad are v8, ggae and ggaf are v9, ggag and ggah are the hawkeye if I remember correctly. (first 4 digits of the "applied model code" Engine should be an ej205, matching the numbers to the chassis tag can be a pain though. But, given the year, its fairly safe to assume you have a first revision v8 wagon (code ggac)

I'm sure you'd find one, bet you could get one in the right colour even.

Do you know if the NZDM wrx gearbox's are the same as JDM wrx Gearbox's? My gearbox is quite noisey so in the long run I was wondering if I should do a replacement, or upgrade in to the v7/v8 sti 6 speed gearbox. But I do realise that the ratios are different so I'd need to change out the drive train to match the ratios. This whole JDM, NZDM having different parts is so confusing... haha 21 minutes ago, IZichard said: Try ringing up a few Subaru wreckers. Kiwi_Fozze
I'd stick in a 6 speed lol If its anything like the usdm stuff, even the 5 speed ratios are different to the jdm stuff. 3000 rpm at like 105kmh in 5th?

calebwrx
Clean looking wagon you got there. A friend of mine has some spare fog light surrounds but they're in white, if you're interested I can ask him if he'll sell 'em.
