Hi everyone new 2004 Subaru Outback 'LL Bean 3.0 import edition owner here.

Wondering if anyone knows what the little metallic button knobs are to the right of the ignition and to the upper left of the traction control. They are set in a small black circle.

(Anybody know how to attach a photo on the thread from a phone?)

Nope, never seen that before. Doesn't look quite factory.

For raising rear air shocks would be my out of thin air guess from that pic.

Or maybe the lift for a jap tv/radio aerial...

ok those are weird (& I updated thread with your images too)

are they magnetic? can you trace what ever is attached behind them?

yeha the up & down sticker might be a clue? & the other might take over the traction control?

Nothing noticeable at least.

Weird. Assume you pressed and pulled and all that without anything happening?

I'll take a closer look, but don't really want to have to remove much and dig around back there. (Thank you for helping the newb)

Push and hold them maybe?

I’ve had something similar in the past and they ended up being lights in the front footwell. I’ve done something similar for reversing camera (was easier to tap into a constant 12v than to muck around with soldering into the reverse light).

The one by ignition could be to kill the key in ignition beep when you have the door open? The other could possibly be to override traction control properly (handy when you’re off-road)

They definitely aren’t factory switches, I’d assume they are either internal or external lights somewhere. I don’t know about you but I’d enjoy trying to find out what they do,  nice little Easter egg you have to find haha

I have this exact same button in the same location in my 04 Outback. I've had a brief play with it but never actually taken a good look at what it does. It makes a nice clicking noise so sometimes I play with it when on a long drive ?but thats the only use i've found mine to be. I thought it was something to do with the toll gate card reader that was all through my import when I got it.. but now that I see its not a one-off i'm going to investigate further

Glad I'm not the only one! Let me know if you find anything.

My first thought it had to do with the immobilizer with the key. When I thought it was just next to the ignition. But she  I saw the one on the left hand side of the wheel as well, had me really confused.

I just had a good play around with mine.... and it does nothing, next step would be to pull it apart and trace wires but no idea when if i'll ever do that.

Might need to refill the NOS bottles before anything happens

all things my car needs

Motorcycles have numberplate hiders... I like to call them wheelies.. Hypothetically it works going through the northern toll gate.

Okay, the one on the LH side of the steering wheel. When you turn your head-lights on and the cluster/HVAC controls dim,  that button might bring them back up to full brightness if you wanted to drive with your lights on during the day...

The one on the RH side by the ignition barrel, that symbol looks like it might've been for one of the Japanese little parking distance bumper stick things they had, would often raise from the LHF corner of the bumper

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
