Possible exhaust leak

Hey when I accerlate I can hear a whooshing sound only while I accelerate, have had the car checked and it's not the intake, turbo or the vaccum lines. Of course the car didn't make the noise when the mechanic was looking at it. Could it be an exhaust leak? If so where could it possibly be coming from and is it easy to fix? It is on the driver's side of the car, it's a 2010 forester xt, it's the 205, it's standard 2.0L turbo.

Exhaust leaks sound like a tractor, not a whooshing. Maybe get it smoke tested?

Could it be the turbo? There is no loss of power. It doesn't happen the whole time I'm acceralating. Otherwise it sounds like a sucking sound.

Is it not just intake noise? Makes Forester (SH5 XT) makes the exact same noises when accelerating. No vacuum leaks, loss of power etc. My old S-GT from memory did the same.

Whooshing noise is the intake... perfectly normal for any turbo.

Have a look at your surroundings when you hear the noise, in the wide open spaces you often dont hear things vs motorway off/on ramps with high walls on either side etc. bouncing the noise back at you in an echo

It's definitely a noise that has started to happen. Never used to be there

I feel like we're going to need to see a video of it happening to understand it more

External wastegate? If so it might be a leak present only when the wastegate is open.
