2009 WRX STI Downpipe Question

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into installing a catted downpipe on my STI and then getting a tune. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the empire performance downpipe? Seems to good to be true considering the price, however would rather not fork out 1250$ for an Invidia one.

If it's a 2.0L and you are not set on the cat this is another option (budget $100 for an adaptor also) Sounds better than stock, this and a happy tune on  the spec c was 220Kw at the wheels

Nah its the 2.5L, I was just wondering if its worth it to fork out the extra money for the Invidia downpipe rather than the cheap one mentioned.

It's only $750 more. There's a reason the PPD ones are so cheap. If you consider that the cat alone has to be worth a couple of hundred bucks, $300 doesn't leave a lot for things like quality, thick steel, good welding, and flanges that are actually flat.

Alright I'll get the Invidia one most likely then, thanks.

Don't spend more than you want to just because someone on a forum tells you to!

I have the money and am willing to spend it, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the cheaper downpipe. Since I would be worried about buying it and finding out its terrible after spending an additional 1k on a tune for said downpipe.

PBMS has the Invidia one for $1100 which is a bit better than the other price you had

Thank you :)

The flip side that warrants mentioning - I asked around and found someone that has been running a PPD exhaust for a couple of years... admittedly on a diesel ute, not a performance car, and it has held up just fine EXCEPT that it has rusted, which is kinda funny considering it's "stainless"
