Its the 3% extra toughness that they add at the factory. Not available aftermarket either.

Also the exhaust manifolds are slightly different in the initial sections that bolt to the head I think??

3% is conservative

The exhaust manifold arrangement would be one, but they are no different to early WRX etcas far as I can see.

I do know the AUSDM manifold is different to the JDM version.

My old RS RA has to be the sweetest sounding suby i'v had by far.......god bless her awesomness where ever she might be. :'( 3" off the turbo straight back to one resonator and a 4" oval tip cut on an angle.

When I put my EJ20G/K/8 hybrid in (got V3 heads & cams) it changed the sound completely. Straight away I said it sounded like an STI.

The 2.2's sound a bit different too - mate used to have a '91 2.2 GT which had quite a different growl to the VZ I had at the time - throatier is the best word I can think of to describe it.

<waits for someone to try and tell him theres no such thing as a 2.2 GT>

I have a similar mixture and it still sounds similar to what it should sound like. I think you'd have to really really really like the original sound to keep those original RS heads on

I ve had loud with my old stis. My RA is just right for me now, think its just got a downpipe and a standard exhaust with no cat. A nice quiet rumble with a crack between changes when you give it a boot full.

mines got aftermarket downpipe into 2.5ich then 2 cobys the 3inch out a 5inch muffler ;D sounds great

have you had your system decibel tested? it sounds pretty loud from the video. also is it drowny wen cruising on the open road?

quite like the sound if my new twin turbo legacy, (bd5)

exhaust pipe discconected at the first flange after turbo-exhaust flange (exhaust was only about 1meter long if that)

i know im naughty, but i couldn't help but wonder what it would sound like

first turbo spools up quick and sounds nice and responsive - not rangi at all

second turbo kicks in and it picks up its nuts and takes off, shrrredding
