Exhausts, can someone tell me how to get that distinct LOW RUMBLING subaru sound from a RSK. Cat back exhaust? Size? Where to get done? Brands? Costs? Cheaper vs Expensive? Pros/Cons?

um just a diff back will give you the rumble you want thats all i have and it sounds nice. pitstop, any muffler place can weld you one up. size asny where from 2.5" up realy. brands dont realy mater to much. um any where from $100 up realy. if its to loud the police might not like you and vtnz probly wont pass you as your ment to have a cert for an exhaust these days. no realy gain from putting 1 on apart from the nice sound.

yea the cat back would be louder it realy depends in the muffler they use if its a high flow or something similar it will be louder than a diff back. have a listen to mine when you have a look i find mine loud enough for me. if you want to get the performance out of an exhaust go from the turbos. rage make some bolt on down pipes and the y pipe and get some one like pitstop or als to make the rest. for a full system your looking at about $1000 for a full 3"

should sound nice but it wasnt me if the exhaust goes missing ;) have a look at the condition of the leather can be expensive to fix and the damage to the front lip from being low. listen for creaking and thuds and other noises from the suspension. if you get it looked at get them to cheek the underside for scrapes and bumps

I honestly wouldn't put a lot of faith in an AA check. A couple of times I've put vehicles through and they've had problems that weren't found, even seemingly simple stuff like leaking shocks. Not worth it IMO especially the price they charge for them. Find a decent Suby mechanic and take it there.

Yea ive always had AA checks done, sure they dont always find everything but they give you a somewhat good overview of the vehicle so you take it with a pinch of salt, either that or take it to a VTNZ which are known for being pretty strict so yea.

Hey

Saw this one this morn:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=274981631

...nice, tidy, easy going owners, not bad...

And then saw this one that Im most keen on:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=274669297

...nice, tidy, half leather int, towbar, adjustables, exhaust, pretty well all set really, pre facelift model but very nice, very keen....getting vtnz check done!

BUT I do want to look into this one

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=274513876

as I quite like the blitzen bits and yea could be nice to drive....

Any thoughts?

Honestly, 8 pages of back an forth advice and you're still not at a conclusion for what you want? Set criteria, browse, test drive, inspect, buy. In that order. If you have any questions, ask, but all your doing is listing B4's... You should make a decision on the ones you want and test drive them, BEFORE posting - you have sufficient knowledge to make informed decisions on which ones to test drive.

Dude, this is a forum, posting is what you do, lay off.

Anyhow, turbo timers, are they easy to install and is there any better than others, ie a new fancy one over a HKS or cheap one off trade me?

Sounds like you've settled on an RSK so that is good.

A turbo timer isn't a requirement... you can live without them especially to start with. If you're going for an AVS S5 alarm, they come with a built in turbo timer so that is a nice cheap option.

Yea ive decided it will be a RSK over a GTB so thats one thing clear.

I had a turbo timer in my Hilux Surf which was was a ITD and I found the turbo timer handy if I had to shoot to the post office or shop or something saves me turning the vehicle off/on etc so hence reason for asking about them. If I bought 2nd hand, are they easy to get installed? What about current alarm conflicts?

Could it be better just installing a whole new AVS alarm or something similar in the car?

Also want to get a BOV for it, have been told by GFB that the Respons TMS is a goer?

If you haven't been boosting hard for a few minutes, then a turbo timer isn't really required.

The AVS one works a treat. The only problem with it is you can't change the time that it stays on for easily but you can (using the remote) tell the turbo timer to turn off after you remove the key from the ignition.

There are some pretty fancy turbo timers out there that try and estimate how long to run the engine for based on how hard you've driven it recently. Whether they're actually required I don't know.

If the vehicle comes with an alarm and it doesn't have a turbo timer feed (i.e. a wire that the turbo timer tells the alarm it is there with) then they'll clash.

As for blow off valves, there are a number of guys in the club (myself included) that use the GFB Hybrid (50% atmospheric and 50% recirculated) and they seem fine. The Respons TMS is a new model which I know nothing about. I'd question their claims of improving the time it takes to come back on boost and stuff. I suspect that would involve VERY careful tuning of the spring pretension which an every day joe would have trouble achieving.

Hmm the last 2 turbo timers Ive had have been both apexi, both in my hilux and in an old RS-B I had quite a while ago both worked great since you could change the time on them, I usually just had them on 1:30 or 1min as that is more than enough time for me to dip to the po box or shop or dairy and back out again with keys in hand!

So I guess I would have to see what sort of alarm is in it and go from there in terms of turbo timer install? would a $90 used apexi or HKS turbo timer off trade me do the trick?

How do the GFB Hybrids sound?

The Hybrid sounds pretty good. It is very very loud if your head is under the bonnet! Both DVSB4 and I run them so going for a ride in either will tell you what they are like.

I suggest getting the car first and then changing one thing at a time ;) Also, I'd definitely do the snorkelectomy before splashing out on an aftermarket BOV because you may find that is enough.

As for a used turbo timer, I don't see that being a problem as long as you can obtain installation instructions. Then again, they're a pretty simple device really...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
