I had both a '01 Blitzen (BE5C) and a '04 V9 STi

-both had 206kw rated, but TT had 343nm while the V9 had 410nm

-the B4 weight 1479 when i weight it, V9 was 1500kg (i had a v2 RA which weight like 1160kg!!)

B4 5spd V9 6spd

B4 13-18psi boost V9 23psi boost (this is factory)

The b4 did feel faster from above 6k rpm, but was still alot slower than the sti. Plus the STi would leave it for dead in the corners and braking.

Add in the differences in suspension, steering, DCCD etc etc

You cant really compare between the 2 types of cars.

Excatly, they are two different category of car, ones a family sedan and ones a rally car for the roads :P

Hi all,

Was going to start a new thread but this one seems along the same lines.

Im very new to Subaru's in General and i've been offered a completely stock RSK.

It's blue, it's manual, it's twin turbo, it's NZ NEW and made in 2001.

Firstly, are these cars any good? I dont plan to keep it long term. Plan is to sell it straight away pretty much but hopefully enjoy it while it's on the market. (Who knows, I might even fall for it... Subaru's are very nice cars to drive from my experiences)

Secondly, what are these cars worth. I had a look on trade me and found anything from $6k - $16k... The one in question has done approx 100k's and the belts have been done.

Are there any differences from NZ New to Imported?

Being a 2001, will that make it a facelift model? (I am still awaiting pictures).

And what is this bumper? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/Legacy/auction-281656485.htm

Cos that is by far the hottest looking B4 front end ever. I want it.

Thanks in advance!

These cars are awesome, you'll enjoy it :)

The tune on a NZ new one will be different to the JDM spec one. In theory, it'll be better tuned for NZ fuel but whether that is actually true, I don't know. With an NZ spec tune, in theory it would be rated to produce less power but on NZ fuel, they're probably much the same.

How much it is worth depends on how tidy it is and whether it is stock or not. For $16k I'd be expecting it to be well modified and in excellent condition. A $6k one is likely to be high mileage and/or untidy but there are always exceptions....

I believe that is the final facelift bumper. A couple of the guys have cars with that bumper. I also believe that that bumper is only on the B4, not the GTB (so the sedan, not the wagon).

Oh, and that Legacy you found on Trademe with the bumper has been on there for AGES... like a couple of months so either there is something wrong with it or he is still asking a bit too much for it.

I like these figures

B4 curb weight: 1460kg

2010 STi weight: 1505kg

Btw, the B4 weight listed there is slighty higher than the BG GTB weight. AFIAK the weight increases each year are due to crash ratings going up. Would much rather be in a BE in an accident than my BG.

I tried to find info about this when I bought mine (2002 GTB E-tune) - it was sold as NZ-new (I'm the second owner and have the paperwork) but seems to be JDM spec based on VIN plate etc, apparently imported/complianced by Subaru NZ as a new car, 3km on the clock at first inspection according to carjam.

Anyway I never found out if they actually did retune for NZ fuel or make any other mechanical changes, so if anyone knows I'd be interested to hear what the story is. Mechanics with experience of plenty other TT Subarus have commented on how well mine goes, but whether thats evidence for an NZ retune or just within the natural variation of them I don't know.

Also, the Rev-D facelift came in mid 2001 from memory, so the one you're looking at may or may not be. Easy to tell from 4th letter of chassis code though.

Ther is a way to tell if been tuned that is quite a bit of fun.

As everyone knows, JDM cars all have 180 km/h speed cut yet many manufacturers tend not to keep this in program in NZ.

Not sure if applies to all but wifes 01 B4 is NZ new purchased in New Plymouth store and that doesn't cut out at 180.

Mine doesn't cut out an an indicated 180 [arbitrary units only on a racetrack occifer], but does cut out at an indicated ~195ish (estimated, well off the clock). Which may just be speedo overread, so if you didn't go far above an indicated 180 it may be there after all ;)

I've got a RSK B4 and from what i've researched it's apparently between 1400-1500kg curb weight, in saying that, mine may very well be a litle heavier than that with full leather interior.

Also trying to compare the RSK and WRX together is not logical, The RSK is a family sedan whereas the WRX is built for rally/speed so ofcourse the WRX will have more torque than the RSK and reach a top speed quicker due to short gear ratios, but having longer gear ratios it would make higher top end?

Does anyone which has the better top end? RSK or WRX?

was wondering why you hardly ever see "RSK\'s" round

no doubt bro cause you cant tell if a B4 is a RS or RSK just by looking at it or reading its badges. youll have to look at the rego.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
