just ignore - you found that list? ;)

Awe, I'm on a secret list? I'm so flattered.

This thread is the lowest common denominator.

Funky, where does your 1.6 multiplier come from? I take it you don't mean the MSNZ equivalence factor for forced induction which is not 1.6

This Being Schedule A

partly just made up and partly from a discussion i was having with Madmike (on totally unrelated matters). I think it was a rally specific thing.

arr there you go as per shedule A - so i was close. We'll call my multiplier made up ;) its the general point im trying to make.

Forced Induction = 1.7

• Rotary Engine = 1.8

• Two stroke = 1.8

back on topic: i still reckon it would be better to base it on the actual performance level of each car as opposed to the engine size. but i can see how then engine size might be a bit easier.

Like seeing a turbo RX-7 parked in the economy carparks at the airport? :P

anyways the guy drove recklessly and paid for it in the end, just a pity he done it in a subi,if it was a non turbo and he got away we wouldnt hear anything about it,they just always find some way to pick on a crowd,as for the FTP writing all around the scene,i think that was unnecessary,if the gut didnt do anything wrong in the first place there wouldnt of been a chase,a death and another reason to attack car enthusiasts.

thats my 2 cents :D :D

in the end everyone is responsible for their own actions, sad thing is our friends and families are on the road aswell when these idiots are being stupid on the road,so its sort of like a lose lose situation if you look at the bad side of it.

  • 3 weeks later...

The rating system would be horribly complicated if it was going to be fair. I already had a problem with my first car, a Mitsubishi lancer SEi. It was a gutless 1.6 auto SOHC, but because it was a 'lancer' it was associated with faster ones and 3rd party was $550 a year for it.. i looked up a 1.6 corolla (same performance) and that was in the 300s... Unless each model of car was tested individually these sort of situations would be more common and alot worse.

The full license for turbo thing is a great idea.. I drove that lancer till i had my restricted and then an average-ish celica untill i got my full, before getting the leggy.. i had two years of driving experience by then, and thats how it should be.

When I get quotes for my Subaru, I don't mention its a Type R, as anything with "Type R" is a referral, hence higher premium.

And it doesn't say Type R on its rego anyway, so win for me.

so when it gets stolen they will buy you a converted retina?

At my work cars have a grade from A to F. A being your 1.3 ford escort to F being your lambo.

Should use that rating scale, seeing its based off risks.

also, kamineko has a CF impreza. 1.3, Auto = 2L turbo RA running gear... thats still an "A"?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
